  1. I think Arrez can play D1 without a doubt. Even though he is 6-1 or 6-2, he play s way above the rim. I have seen this kid play quite a few times, and his work ethic is tremendous. Arrez will not let anyone tell him he can not do anything. He is an achiever, he will succeed. There are very successful players at the D1 and NBA levels that have been 6-1 or 6-2, don't let height full you. Arrez is a very patient play and lets the game come to him, but also has the ability to take over a game at anytime. Not to mention, he proved in the tournament the he can definitely shut you down on defense if he chooses to do so. Just ask the boy from Lex. Cath. that pretty much watched the game from the floor. (shut down)
  2. I couldn't agree more. :thumb: Both of these men would be a huge step in the right direction for this program.
  3. This person has DONATED more of his time to these programs than anyone. If he wanted the job, I believe the Administration should take a hard look at the rules that Walton has put in place. If this person can be successful at both jobs, then it's a win win situation. If he is the best person for the job, I think you have to consider him. Just do what is in the best interest for the student athlete's. And I agree with C-TOWN and Weakside, Cheeseman is not an option.
  4. Congrats Lauren! Thomas More is a great school. Good luck next year. Your leadership at WV will be missed next year.
  5. Congrats to the Lady Bearcats! Great game. The 4th quarter defensive pressure was awesome. Hargett had a great game on both ends of the floor. Ginn had some key steals, and a 3 pointer late (big plays for a 8th grader). And Sara Nargassi was huge of the bench with great defense, some steals, a 3 pointer and a few two pointers. The whole team played extremely hard to fight back for this win. Again Congrats and good luck Friday night!
  6. Back to the topic. Congrats to the Lady Bearcats! Good win. The kids played very hard last night. It was great to see them get after it. Hargett and Heeger had solid games on both ends of the court. As a matter of fact, I thought the whole team played hard on defense. Great effort girls keep up the intensity. We will need all the defense we have to compete on Friday night against a stronge, physical SK.
  7. Congrats to Boone! Keep on rolling!:dancingpa
  8. I will not argue that she is a loyal person. My grandmother is also a very loyal person, but in no way does that make her a great basketball coach. Not once in my post did I say that the JV coach was a bad person. All I'm saying is from what I've seen in the JV games is that her coaching abilities are very limited. As far as keeping to the varsity coaches game plan, I can see your point on that, since the varsity has been extremely successful this year. Let's don't loose sight of the big picture. These young talented players will not do squat with out quality leadership at the JV and Varsity level.
  9. Getting someone in the middle of a press break should happen on October the 15th, not at the end of February when there is about two games left in the season. Last I checked the JV coach has been there about ten years, I think at most schools this would be enough time to get someone in the middle against a press. Not to mention, WV most of the JV game played with three yes THREE post players in the game against a pressing Ryle. It dosen't take a rocket scientist to know that when you are being pressed ball handling is a must. As far as WV playing a good game against Ryle, I don't consider losing a game that you probably could of had a chance of winning a good game. Not to mention Ryle's two best eighth graders Moss, Crittenden, and one ninth grader play only varsity. And yes the JV coach has a winning record, but this is mainly do to two things, one the quality of players that are coming through their program (not developed by the WV coaches). And two, the weak schedule played against other small schools where most of the opponents young talent is playing varsity. Nothing against other schools, but with the talented younger players WV has right now I think Stevie Wonder could of had a winning record for the WV JV.
  10. Coach Rosen was not there. Walton would have still probably lost, but maybe not by 27 points. The JV (coach) stepped up to coach the varsity. From this point on any chance Walton had was now gone. PITIFUL!
  11. Ryle by 16 if the head coach is back from sick leave. Ryle by 35 if the JV coach is filling in!
  12. Congratulations to the Lady Bearcats of Walton. Their young program has a lot of potential.
  13. Congrats. to the Demons. This team is starting to get on a little roll.
  14. Ryle Raiders by 15. GC is well coached, but just not enough experience yet.
  15. Good luck to all the NKY teams in the state tourney. It would be great to see any of the NKY teams do well. I will be pulling for all NKY teams.
  16. Alright then make it 6 teams from each class. I don't here nobody from New Cath, Highlands or Beechwood complaining about the football tourney being watered down. In all reality these schools would have very few state championships if this were the case. Not to mention, I think basketball is still classed only by A,AA,AAA,AAAA. 8 teams would make 32 teams at the tourney.
  17. Congratulations to the Lady Raiders. Also to the Lady Demons on a hard fought game. Looks like they did a great job keeping it close and keeping Miller at bay. I couldn't make it to the game, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess the Demons played a packed in 2-3 zone to stop the inside play of Timble. Good luck down state Lady Raiders, represent the 8th well and make us all proud.
  18. I would like to see the state tourney structured like the boys football. Take 8 teams from each class, A, AA, AAA etc., and have a state champion for each class. This would make the state tourney larger, get more student athlete's and parents involved, and generate more income. It would be a win win situation for everyone. In my opinion this would be the only way of even coming close to making the state tourney fair. The only problem I could forsee here is that you would still have the small private schools stacking their teams. I really think the all "A" is a great tourney for the small schools, but I agree with you on the time of the year needs to be looked at. If the end of the year tourney was structured this way, then their would be no need to have the all "A" in the middle of the season. This would make it alot easier on the coaches of small schools to build momentum towards the end of the season tourney.
  19. Jamie Walz 1991-1996 Highlands 4948 career pts. 1995 season 1135 pts. in one season. Scott Draud 1986 Highlands 1094 pts. in one season. (don't know how many in his career)
  20. Well said. This TEAM can win very many games, if the players, parents and coachs do not create controversy between themselves by being bias about age. If they can focus on just winning games and be supportive of their roles, its going to be an exciting remainder of the season. But if people continue to worry about their age or playing time, and not buy into the TEAM concept, this TEAM could very easily begin to struggle during the remainder of the season. The TEAM is doing well right now. It's time to be supportive and positive. Nothing good ever results from being negative.
  21. If Walton boxes out and rebounds well, I'll take WV by 15. I think the key for them (WV) to win is definately control the boards. They will score plenty of points. Offense will not be a problem. In the first game I'll say Williamstown by 11. They will be very fired up after their win against Gallitan Co. Good Luck to all the teams. It should be an exciting night of basketball.
