1. Most definitely fair - yes - really! The SOLE PURPOSE of the KHSAA girls' basketball state tournament is to find out which team is the best - it's survival of the fittest. Therefore having the best teams play in early rounds is the only way to accomplish the task. The All A-Classic is the opportunity for smaller schools to have a reduced pool in which to compete. It is not uncommon for A-schools to advance into post season play and be very successful, too.
2. Victims of their own success? Well, maybe not - but the quality teams these gents put out on the floor year and year out may cause some folks to take for granted what they and their teams repeatedly do. It's pretty certain that they don't do what they do for COY awards.
3. I'm not sure, but if a player is good enough to ... not just "get a tryout" and not just "make the squad" ... help beat Indiana, then she may still be extended an opportunity. Sometimes players choose to decline the invitation or become injured - you never know what will actually shake out. However, the past few years the Kentucky squad has had a bit of a resurgence, so the methodology used in selecting and developing a competitive unit must be on the up-tick. Regardless, best of luck to the ladies to earn their spots on the team and BEAT INDIANA in 2013 !!!
4. I have to agree with you madman. Although upsets of major proportions can pop up the radar, it appears that all other teams in the Bluegrass are playing for 2nd place. Sooooo ... who seems to be the most likely runner-up?
5. Let's take this to a super-weird hypothetical 'nother level. What if ... the shooter is fouled in the act, the whistle blows and the players come to a halt, and then ball bounces and goes in??? What about that one? Then you would have a three-point shooting foul that was called, followed by the ball going in the basket after the bounce. Since truth is stranger than fiction, and the highly unlikely can and does occasionally happen, what would be the rulling in the scenario? (I have no idea on this one, to be honest, but I just got to wondering.)
6. On a district-by-district basis it is a school district decision. Some places will have an across-the-board policy of cancellation, which might even include all after-school activities, while others may allow more individual autonomy to the school (i.e., the school's AD, head coach, and principal) to work through the logistics of getting the event done. There are merits to either way, and there are many variables to contend with in addition to the liability concerns many administrators have --- especially if the administrators are not sports people.".
7. Excellent point, as the 7th region may well be the toughest in the state. Plus with the 6th and 7th regions playing in round one, the rest of the state has really gotten a break.
8. Marion Co. tops girls’ Litratings; Girls’ LIT pairings set | Jason Frakes – KHS The pairings are in the attached article.
9. Does anyone have any scoop on the 2013 girls' L.I.T. tourney? At a glance, it looks to be a wide-open affair this year. Butler is my pick.
10. Lady Dragons are picking it up late in the year as they have normally done the past few years. They are building post-season momentum and may again advance into the 8th region tourney.
11. Two good teams, both well coached, should be good for fans.
12. Glover is a name that has been associated with good basketball players from that region in the past. Might she somehow be related to to former WKU standout Clarence Glover, from the Hilltoppers' NCAA Final Four team in the 70s?
13. It's Anderson County's to lose. This year there is not that strong of a competitive field to inject a great deal of doubt about the outcome . Few have enough talent, experience and depth to survive the tourney grind and prevail. It seems that a number of team's rosters don't resemble the ones that began the season due to injuries.
14. Folks, this score is just one solitary basket away from being a total shocker! There has to be something in between the lines to be read by somebody in order to explain what really happened. Wow.
15. What a player and what a performance - Voskul!!! Wow!!! Very, very impressive last night. Where will she play in college?
16. Glasgow is listed to be in the LIT later this month, so they must be pretty good. What type of team are they, as they are not widely known around the state?
17. Are there any rated teams slated to play one another this week? If so, who is playing, when and where?
18. Trimble Co. is a close second, but Anderson Co. gets my#1 . Top quality plus it comes a larger brown bag. Mmmmmm, good.
19. Last Year's Argument VS. This Year's Argument = TOO BAD THEY DON'T SCHEDULE A REGULAR SEASON GAME These are two strong 8th region programs, year in and year out. One more time, it's too bad they don't play every regular season. IMO it would be good for both teams, but that is not may call to make. So ... we'll just have to wait until region tourney week to see who's really the top dog.
20. What in the world happened? Details, details, details ... please !?!? Big doins'f for the Lady Raiders!
21. It should be a good game for the players to play and the fans to watch. A tournament atmosphere is a great thing - regardless of if you're a fan, a player, or a coach.
22. What are the prospects and predictions for the 8th region All-A this year? Interestingly, it is at Eminence this year, too.
