  1. Clark is young but Stenzel and Hatton have played key minutes the last two years and they should be veteran leaders.
  2. South Carolina is not a bad football team, especially on defense. Their real strength lies in their pass defense and secondary. (As an aside I don't why we kept throwing the ball). They also got a lift by getting All SEC WR McKinney back at full strength and by playing Garcia at QB. Arkansas is terrible. That doesn't mean we will win but Arkansas is just plain bad.
  3. Below is part of an article in paper today about Boyd. Sounds like he is practicing better. I am of the Allen Iverson school of thougt anyway "I mean we are talking about PRACTICE." http://www.kentucky.com/817/story/555961.html One player who will see extended time is freshman Aaron Boyd, who has played sparingly in four games this season. UK Coach Rich Brooks was critical of Boyd for his practice habits a couple of weeks ago, but the Henry Clay product has apparently been doing better. And, as offensive coordinator Joker Phillips noted, what do they have to lose? "He's made some progress and is starting to practice harder," Phillips said. "And also, why not (play Boyd)? He still continues to make mistakes, but he's catching the football so why not try him?" Brooks said at his Monday press conference that Boyd doesn't possess blazing speed and often has trouble separating from defenders unless he goes 100 percent all the time. But Boyd had four passes thrown his way this season, and he's caught all four of them. "That's the one thing he does," Brooks said. "When he's had opportunities to make catches, he's made them, and that can carry you a long way in our receiving corps." Boyd said his 6-foot-3, 210-pound frame can help him establish separation. "Sometimes you have to throw a DB off you, or maybe a guy's trying to put his hands on you, and you throw them off and mess up his whole form, which allows you to break free on him," Boyd said. "Speed is a big factor, but knowing how to use your body and hands is also a big factor."
  4. That's the scary thing about Elliott. If they are hitting the three they could beat anyone in the state. They also could suffer a bad loss but still they have a chance agaisnt anyone.
  5. Manual now has lost Cosby and Kimbro who both started out last season with the team. They also lost Williams to graduation. I think they drop from the #5 or 6 team down to around the #10 or 11 range.
  6. I would like to see a lot more Aaron Boyd in this one.
  7. I know our offense is terrible with Hartline at QB. I don't know how our offense would be with Cobb at QB but we COULDN'T be worse.
  8. He had adequate time to throw agaisnt SC.
  9. Both offenses were terrible in the first half. One coach made the appropriate changes, one didn't. Brooks is so stubborn I'm afraid he may start Hartline next year.
  10. No it is not really a surprise. It's just sad.
  11. I think the UK student newspaper (the Kentucky Kernel) is even worse if you can believe it. That campus is so liberal.
  12. In another thread we were all talking about Hatton should have been on that list. I also agree that Rash should be higher. What a solid player!
  13. I hate that statement. Should UF had been #1 in preseason basketball polls last year after graduating 5 starters from the champs the year before? I know Mason has got some guys back and they may be a top 10 team but that doesn't mean they should be ranked first in the region. Should they be ranked in front of Scott County this year in the state "until someone knocks them off?"
  14. I also think the 10th region top players should have included Hatton from GRC and that Rash from Montgomery should have been higher than #8.
  15. I couldn't believe that. In some of the region articles, it mentions a coaches vote. Is this a coaches vote or just the author's opinion?
  16. Dunbar, Catholic, Madison Central, and Franklin are all right there together in the 10-15 or so range in the state. I actually think Dunbar could be the best of the 4. They sure impressed me with their game in the region tournament last year agaisnt Station. Station and Tates Creek could also be top 25 teams this year.
  17. Run the option with Cobb and Locke! Run the ball. Our coaches crazy logic for not running is this: 1. Our passing game is weak so other teams can stack the box. 2. We can't run because the box is stacked 3. Because the box is stacked we have to pass They also say we can't run outside because there is a safety in the box and because of that we wouldn't have time to run outside so when we do run it has to be up the middle.
  18. Yes, for example Elliott returns five starters from a team that almost beat Mason last year at state.
  19. I am getting conflicted reports from people on Dunbar. For some reason I thought their coach said they would have 3 or 4 starters returning this year but on the other hand I thought that Webb, Webb, and couple of other key players were seniors last year. Anyone know who else they have back besides Hudson? Also, who is back for N. Hardin? Is football star Larod King a b-ball player?
  20. I will have more info after I get a look at the Cat's Pause yearbook but for now. 1. Scott 2. Holmes 3. Elliott 4. J-town 5. GRC 6. Manual 7. Hazard 8. S. Valley 9 Adair Co. 10 Mason Co. / Dunbar
  21. No way! They should be co-favorites with J-town (who is picking up a Manual transfer). But don't forget about others such as Ballard, Male, and Trinity who all return good players and who I think are top 25 teams.
  22. I think UK's defense can keep them in the game. UK's D is absolutely increadible. I don't see a single weakness on D except maybe the Micah Johnson injury.
  23. And why in the world is Meyer whining about the refs? The blocked extra point was not leaping. And finally it was funny how they measured on the games final play. They were a yard short.
  24. I thought UF was going to utilize the jump pass on 4th and one. That play call would have worked. I loved watching the Gators go down and I called it in the poll about who would win the national title I put that it wouldn't be Florida. There D isn't good enough after they lost Harvey and Joiner from last year. Also I don't think their fans realized how much they would miss Caldwell (who graduated) and Ingram (who is injured). I mean why were their WR's getting so much type besides Harvin. Louis Murphy? Aaron Hernandez? give me a break!
