Those are the best teams but someones got to some out of the bottom (unless we are putting Mason in the finals). Of course the 5th 9th matchup is in the top bracket but a team in the bottom such as Hazard is now in the conversation because of the very weak bottom bracket.

I completely agree with this statement. If I got to pick a team to win AFTER the sweet 16 was set I would pick the 11th region team probably. However, if I have to pick one team to win it BEFORE the region tournament I couldn't pick Station or Lex Cath or Scott Co. because they only have a 1/3 chance or worse.

If Manaul was in one of the bottom bracket regions (i.e. the 8th) I'd give them a very good chance to win it. But being in the 7th region and being in the top bracket I just don't see it happening. I think Eastern, Ballard, and J-town have the senior leadership and (in the case of Ballard and J-town, the past success and experience at Rupp to be able to win it.) As far as Male they are too up and down (great win one day like Eastern or Manual or Ballard) terrible loss the next like Seneca or Christian Co or Central the next day. All three of these losses were suffered after Jan 1st. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm not picking the best teams I'm picking good teams with favorable draws or great teams regardless of their draw. You don't have to be the best team to win it but you do have to be hot, healthy and lucky. Speaking of Montgomery Co. they have region at home this year and lost to Mason earlier by only six. If they can get past Mason they can make the finals. I knew they wouldn't go into Louisville and beat Manual.

For Scott Co. to win for example they might have to win the following games: District - Henry Clay Region - Madison Central, Lex Cath, Bryan Station Sweet 16 - UHA, PRP, J-town, Mason Co. That is a lot to ask of an 11th region team. If I had to pick only a couple of teams I don't know if I could pick an 11th region one despite the fact that these teams are very good.

Lex Cath Scott Co. Byran Station Ballard J-town Eastern UHA Holmes Mason Co. Paintsville Shelby Valley - Longshot but with earlier wins aganst Male and DeSales who knows. The following have a chance to make the finals only because of their favorable draw, remember Apollo and Warren Central making it to the finals (WC in 05 - the year after they won it and Apollo in 06) with favorable draws. They are longshots to win in the finals but anything can happen in one game. Hazard, Lincoln Co., Tilgman, Marshall Co., Corbin, Montgomery Co., Elliott Co (if Mason loses in region). Note: I don't think Dunbar, Madison Central, Manual or Male will make it out of region even though they are good teams.

I think I heard the finals were at 2pm on Sunday. Does that sound right?

15th region: Boys 1st Rd 3/6 and 3/7 Semis Mon 3/10 6:30 pm and 8pm Finals 7pm 3/11 11th region: I went to EKU website and they have two games scheduled from 1pm - 4:30 on Sat 3/8 but it doesn't say if it is boys or girls. They also have a final scheduled for Sat night and one for Tue night on 3/11. I'm guessing boys is on Tue and girls final on Sat like last year. Why are the boys and girls region tournaments during the same week? It wasn't like that until last year.

Anybody know any of the dates for any of the region semis and finals?

Elliott has zero quality wins this year. I would put them in the 20-25 range. I think the Shelby Valley team has improved tremendously since that meeting in Rupp. That can be showed by a wins over Male and DeSales and a five point loss to J-town!

Speaking of canceled games I remember one year when Ballard added a game at the last minue with Bourbon Co. which unknowingly put them at the limit of games for that year and then they had to cancel their end of the year game with Male which would have been Male's senior night.

I think IF (and it is a big if) Mack can lead his team to wins over the likes of Madison Central, Lex Cath, Scott Co. (region), followed by wins over UHA or Henderson (Sweet 16) and the PRP or DeSales (quarters) and then Ballard or Eastern or Holmes or J-town (semis) he should/will get a lot of votes.

How did GRC get Ballard on the schedule? Will they go to play at Ballard next year? I wish I could make it to this one. Maybe I will find a way.

Adair Co. has three or four really solid players but absolutely no depth. If they had a few more kids who could play they would be top 10.

Also in 1998 at Rupp Arena Scott County was down pretty good in the 4th quarter. This 40 some year old fan kept singing lalala goodbye signaling that he thought the Cardianls would not come back. I think Casey Alsop hit a couple of threes to tie up the game and some Scott County fans said "Can we come back now." It made the guy look pretty silly.

Something that I thought was funny was when I went to a Henry Clay football game. There was a Henry Clay fan who kept yelling at his own teams quarterack but he kept calling him #7 because he didn't know his name. I thought it was funny that this guy cared so much about the game going on but yet he didn't even know the name of the team's star QB.

That's domination! Does this mean the Lady Indians are a top 5 team in the state? What was LCA ranked?

Anybody know any particular dates when particular regions will be played? I think the 10th has semis on 3/8 and finals on 3/9 both in the afternoon. I want to make it to as many finals as possible!

Good point. The fans in the greater Mt. Sterling era like basketball, too!

It sounds like some (hopefully just a minority) of the Mason County fans are making it impossible for Montgomery to have success hosting the tournament. If people are turned away they will say "I told you so" meaning they knew people would get turned away and that the move would be a failure. However, if there is not a sellout for any games (which is highly likely) they will say "Look Montgomery County couldn't even get 4,000 fans to the title game, what a failure, the crowd would have been so much better in Maysville." Give this tournament a chance.

It seems like eveytime you start a thread/post a thread it is about the location of the 10th region or how there is no homecourt advantage at all anywhere. I think we all know that you want the region to stay in Maysville!
