Mason County must go over to Mt. Sterling tonight and send a message or statement. If they let the Indians hang around then Montgomery gains the necessary confidence they will need once the regional tournament comes and they make their run. Mason County has to hone in on the focus from this point out in their schedule to bring their best game night in and night out and the rest should take care of itself.

She didn't start at the first of the year, in fact she didn't start until the game after Simon Kenton. The 5th spot was operated by another 8th grader in Kierra Gibbs. I agree Smith along with the rest of the bench is very young but by their sophomore year, they will be just fine.

Is that only for high school students at Mason County? If it is, then that is not right for the kids at the middle school and intermediate school!

I witnessed a freshmen game this year between St. Patrick and Mason County and Mosler was on the floor for the freshmen team. This injury could have happened in this game as well and then what would the converstation be about right now? Who would be the target for the blame? Lets see, it could have happened in the freshmen season, the jv game, or the varsity game where this young lady played all three. Its a contact sport and while I am very sorry it happened to this fine young lady, it doesn't matter regardless of who the opponent is, who the players are on the court, if it is going to happen it will happen.

2 years ago in this game Montgomery County caught Mason County in a bad time and that is why the margin was 19. It was the first game back for the Lady Royals from the holiday break where they played something like 8 games out of 11 days or something close to that. I agree with the above poster, its generally a classic matchup between these two schools and I expect nothing less come Saturday, but like I mentioned there is plenty of work to do in between. Montgomery has Sacred Heart and Henry Clay and Mason says goodbye to their 3 seniors Thursday in Maysville versus Brossart.

Plenty of time for a prediction on this one, IMO now is not the time to be thinking of this game.

I think both teams have work to do before meeting one another on Saturday and for Mason County that is Bishop Brossart on Thursday and for Montgomery County, they have Sacred Heart before Saturday.

This type of game will only benefit Mason County come post season. Playing in front of a crowd, on the road, finding a way to win. All intangibles in the game it takes to overcome to win the big games.

Final

Some might say that, but Mason knows game in game out that their opponent will bring their best game. In the end despite the other teams short comings...bottom line is great teams find a way to win and Mason did just that tonight!

The Mason County Freshman captured the 39th District title Saturday defeating St Patrick 73 -30 in the semifinals. Tyler Frame led the Royals with 12 points. He was followed in double figures by Neal Pawsat and Jordan Gilbert with 11 and 10 points respectively. The Royals defeated Bracken County in the finals by a score of 82 to 23. Treg Setty, Neal Pawsat, and Josh Menefee led the Royals with 12 points apiece. Also in double figures was Jordan Gilbert and BJ Perry with 10. The Royals (18-1) now advance to the 10th Regional Tournament next week at the 38th District winner.

A lot of people must of had a curfew last night that they needed to try and beat at halftime of the girls game. Tremendous difference with fans in the stands from the first half compared to the second half. Mason starts out of the gates slow in the first quarter but rebounds to make a game of it the rest of the way. Great job folks!

Tentativeness is not the word, Discipline is and playing it for 4 quarters. Tentativeness because of a bench issue is not close. They played it against Simon Kenton but have to be consistent.

I don't disagree with you above statements until you get to your last sentence. You are not guaranteed to gain your momentum back by putting your starters back in when the opposition has got back into the ballgame.

Adair County made it last year and looks to be the favorite again this year. Can't forget North Hardin and the likes.

So are you saying the comment in the paper is not one of truth? Sorry to hear this about Mosler, she led the Lady Saints in scoring. Things happen in any sport where there is contact and its unfortunate.

De'Sarae Chambers a senior at Mason Co High School only needs 11 pts to surpass the career scoring mark of Tennessee Volunteer All -America candidate Chris Lofton to become the all-time leading scorer at Mason Co. High School. Chambers has already surpassed the career totals of such luminaries as Ronny Lyons and Deron Feldhaus. Now, only Lofton is ahead of her. With 11 more points, Chambers will top Lofton's record of 2,763 career points. Mason County is scheduled to play Rowan County tonight in Morehead at 8pm. Absolutely a great accomplishment for a fine young lady. The names above are pretty good company to be around as well.

Seems like if you live outside of the Lexington and Louisville area you don't have a shot of putting more than 1 team in the top 20. 12 out of the 20 come from those three regions-6th,7th, and 11th.

I agree, and some of which jump on here and make predictions and want to talk about about certain things concerning the team when they are the ones that are never at the games and yet still want to form opinions. Here you have a team that has played a brutal schedule, has one of the top players in the state about to reach a milestone yet you look up at places such as Memorial Colesieum where there are two games and there is no one hardly there to support the girls....terrible! As far as the weather, I believe the heavy stuff in snow is to the north of Cincy. I am hearing rain, snow, sleet mix overnight tonight for our region.
