Clark County enjoyed it last year. The team playing the best basketball, best their opponent in all parts of the game wins despite where the games are held.

That is what alot of people thought, considering Lexington Catholic travelled to Maysville last night for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade game. The boys from Lexington must know a different route to Maysville.

Come to Maysville on Feb. 22th and watch Mason/Elliott matchup. It should be an interesting matchup. I predict a packed house and no 100 points scored by Elliott. Possibly alot of college recruiters there to watch some great talent on both sides of the floor.

It is my understanding that Clark called and was worried about the temperature dropping and it was raining in Winchester. In all likelihood game will not be rescheduled.

Mason/Clark freshman game cancelled due to weather forecast for this evening.

I thought she got that win a couple years back in the region semifinals over Paris in upset fashion. I think that game was at the Fieldhouse.

What kind of support and help would be requested of Mason County to help out? Are we talking about administrative support and help, advice, situations? I doubt very seriously that the administration at Montgomery is calling the administration at Mason County.

Three games tonight, with the varsity game at 8pm.

No way Montgomery accomodates a regional final this year if numbers are anywhere near last years 4000 range. Well they will I guess I should say, but as we have beat this in the ground previously....there will be several folks told to go to the Cracker Barrel down the road. Who cares if it rotates, just rotate it to a place that can hold attendance. By the time two bands are in the gym, seating is gone for most fans wanting to attend. It was packed for the girls regional final and this will not last long after this year. Take the tournament somewhere that is accomodating.

Royals dropped 80 on Campbell County on Tuesday night, could have been more if they wanted it to be!

The Mason County freshman ran their record on the season to 13 and 1 with a victory over homestanding Harrison County Monday night by a score of 68 to 42. Treg Setty led the winners with 22, while Jeris Carver netted 18. The freshman are at home Thursday night at 6pm versus Clark County.

Hardin had 23 in the loss to St. Patrick. I think he did and has to become the go to guy. Growing pains is what this Wildcat program is dealing with and any young program will have that. Give the program time and have patience with both the players and the staff. They are doing things the right way!

Richard Hardin is a kid that is capable of putting some numbers on the board for the Wildcats. While I am sure they are hard earned, Hardin is worth mentioning. All the kids with the adversity that has been dealt to the Wildcats have played hard in a few games I have seen them play and that is encouraging with any program that is young. Better times will be ahead for PC.

IMO Cary Lyle and John Chamberlain are 2 of the best.

You are right, there are better referees in the region than those three.

Nor was it that good. Let the kids play basketball and be consistent with your calls is all I'm asking for. With all the bumping and banging in the post and no foul is called, then a ticky tack reaching foul is called, then somewhere you have to draw the line. It is hard to get into a flow of the game as a player if you have an official letting you play on one end, but on the other, every time you breathe you are whistled. I'm just asking, for a crew of officials to be consistent on both ends of the floor. As stated before, Scott County wins the game because they showed more heart and did the things they had to do to get the "W".

I meant to say the 3 stooges not the 3 referees. IMO you need to let the kids decide the outcome and Scott County probably still would have won.

Who were the 3 officials for the Mason County/Scott County game? Kirk Hudson, Bo Queen and ?

January 18th game versus Lexington Catholic at Memorial Coliseum is a girl/boy doubleheader which should be a big night for basketball as far as competition and atmosphere is concerned. The atmosphere should be exciting for the girls game which starts first at 6:30 and should bring a good following as far as fan based with the boys starting immediately afterwards and the rematch that awaits for Mason County with Lex Cath. It would make sense to come out and support both games with the price of admission being the same regardless.

Every player and every team are going to have games when they don't perform up to expectations. We certainly agree there. But when a team of Mason County's caliber misses 14 of 32 free throws - 8 consecutive at a critical part of the game - I don't think it's unfair to point it out. When the pre-emptive favorite for Mr. Basketball fouls out in the manner that he did; it's not unfair to point out that he played a sub-par game, and that with an already depleted bench, Miller's playing only 16 minutes didn't help the Royals' cause.[/B]The calibar of team has nothing to do with missing free throws, those happen to top notch teams as well. If you have or had ever played the game then that is something that you just know. That is where I stand by what I say sometimes we take for granted some of the expectations that are placed on these kids. And while we're not blood brothers or anything like that, I am friendly enough with the MC coaches that I feel comfortable mentioning something along the lines of, "please foul when you're 3 points up with a few seconds to play" (cough cough LexCath cough).[/B] Another easy thing to point out by being the so called coach in the stands, which whether your a blood brother or just a fan, you can have the opinion but I feel quite sure I know what the staff response would be(cough cough, thanks for second guessing)...that is what the price of admission is for loyal one:eek:

Mason County will be fine and to those that wonder why they don't dominate game in and game out, there are intangiables that take place where this sort of thing doesn't come easy. It amazes me with what we expect and the comments are made when a bad game is played. The rankings, being #1 is nice for us to talk about but not so easy for the players. The kids are still kids and I don't care what team you play for with the amount of pressure that is put on kids today to excel is tremendous especially for big time programs. I read statements on some LOYAL fans of Mason County about the Royals such as.... finally came back to life as one, finally waking up, and I think well this is easy to make because we are fans, but then I think we aren't in the players position so its not as easy to understand the pressure these kids are under. They are human, they will have bad weeks of games, may not make our expectations live to be true, but remember its not that they intend to go out and not excel to the best of their abilities. A lot of their shortcomings are a result of fine basketball teams around the state in Catholic and Scott County(I name those two as they have defeated the Royals thus far). It amazes me how some loyal fans seem to forget that these talented bunch of kids on Mason County's squad will have a off night here and there before we come on this site and make statements about how how these kids finally put together a run in the 3rd quarter, how they finally come back in the second half, how it was hard to enjoy after a debacle from last night, how these kids finally wake up, how Miller finally dominated(he does in so many ways other than scoring) and yes D Miller is allowed to have a off night. This team will be fine and I think the staff at Mason County is doing a great job as well, this program is and always has been a first class program. Good luck the rest of the way!
