They will have to get out of the region first.

Congrats to the Royals on a great tourney.:thumb:

It will be a great battle in a few years with Clark County and the rest of the region.

Lex Cath has a couple of good players on their freshman team. Their current 8th grade group has more depth and is a better overall group IMO. The Lex Cath 8th graders beat Mason County 8th graders handily recently. Their group has alot of growing to do physically and should compliment the current freshman group very well. Lex Cath will continue to do well in the years to come.

Mason County beat Bracken County tonight by a score of 67 to 29 without Setty. Mason County has some talent in the 8th grade as well (Black, Osborne, Harris, Hamm, and Walton). It should make for an interesting matchup with Lexington Catholic in years to come. They could be on the freshman team right now getting some minutes easily but are not allowed to play up.

I was really impressed watching some of these kids play in the JV game against Scott.

I know Scott is rebuilding, but the Royals effort on both sides of the court was outstanding to watch. I know I need to enjoy watching the great group of kids that are currently on varsity, but I can't wait to see how these young kids continue to develop over the years.

To put things in perspective, Scott County has three middle schools, Scott Co.'s 8th grade team beat Mason last year (current Mason Freshman Team), as did Georgetown (another Scott Co. School). This year, this past weekend Georgetown's 8th grade beat Mason's 8th grade by 20 plus.... (without 8th grader Manning that's playing varisty). I think we are starting to find that Mason and Scott are going to be a state contenders for years to come, and it all begins with the younger kids and building a solid program rather than just a solid team. I think if more districts would put an emphasis on their middle programs we would see more talented high school teams across the state!

The royal cupboard is not bare with Gilbert, Pawsat, and Setty at the freshman level. Jeris Carver has definitely stepped his game up and add the current group of 8th graders, there is definitely exciting times ahead for Mason County. This is not to say, there is not exciting times at the present moment; just a little food for thought at where the program stands.

I would just like to know when Scott beat Mason last year waterboy. If you could give me a date it would help clarify this statement.

31-30 @ Mason (played at the Fieldhouse on a Saturday) held Mason scoreless in the first quarter......dont know exact date it was day after SC beat Mason @ Scott in High School.....just ask the players I am sure they will remember, I believe they were undefeated before hand......

Not to say your statement is false or misleading, but I will get correct information on a date, time, and score. Myself, I cannot recall this game unless it was in the summer. It is just hard for me to fathom, that the current group of freshman was held scoreless for a WHOLE quarter.

Check it out, but I'm positive about outcome and scoreless in the 1st.....Saturday Jan. 13th @ Mason was the date. It was a battle, both teams were fully staffed, please post when you confirm, would like to see exact stats. Remember current Scott County Freshman Team is without Shotwell that is seeing time for Lexington Christian Varisty this year.
