  1. The Host School provides the ball. However the refs are responsible for making sure the ball is suitable for play.
  2. I second that!!! Great job Seniors you have represented Walton Verona well on and off the court. You have set a great example for teams for years to come.:thumb::thumb::thumb:
  3. Half court has not been near the problem the press has been this year for Walton. But your right they will need to play well against both.
  4. That's the key spread the floor stay out of the corners against the Anderson press. If you can get the ball to Cheeseman or Ginn in the middle of the floor they can beat anybody up the floor with the ball. Once they get to the middle the can draw and dish to either Hargett to take it to the hole or Heeger spotting up for the three. One thing I did notice the Walton guards starting to do well that the did not do at all early in the year, is when the defense is over playing them when trying to get the ball in against the press, they are learning to drive toward the ball then releasing allowing a pass overtop of the defense, then they are allready past the first layer of the press. They are deadly after that point with Heeger, Hargett, and Dixon all options at that point.
  5. I don't see it being any better for the 8th region tommorow with the long trip for Walton. I'll bet that one has to be postponed again.
  6. I understand your point but that's not the rule in high school basketball.
  7. GREAT WIN FOR THE LADYCATS!!!! Everybody stepped up when they needed to. Looked like a shocked Oldham team at the end of the game. If I'm not mistaken it's been sometime since Walton has had a region win. Well Done!!!!!!
  8. Your right. But it does in the vast majority.
  9. Not at all. When your playing teams with a student body 4 to 5 times the size of your school it's easy to see how these games can be tough. If you have 4 times the girls to choose from your normally going to be able to find a better talent pool. While A schools do have some great players it's usually the 3rd,,4th, and 5th players that the talent level drops simply because of the numbers of girls you have to choose talent from. I think that's were the difference comes in.
  10. I'm going with Conner by 6. Long is nails. Stephanie Hodges is one of the best players in NKY.
  11. I like your thoughts. What do you think about using the bigs Hargett and Dixon up front against the press to get the ball in and then luse the guards to make cuts and get up the middle, or if you get the ball into Hargett and then set some screens up front she can do some damage if she can get behind the first level of the press. I think your right about using a 1-3-1 but you have to play it right, pressure on the perimiter is a two edge sword with SK's ability to penetrate and get to the basket. I think you have to play it with emphasis on defending the post and stopping penetration. I realize that SK will knock down 3's but you have to give up something the best teams shoot in the high 30's. Just thoughts.
  12. I agree. The Lady Bearcats played hard on both ends of the court and locked down on defense when they needed to. I thought with 3 minutes left in the game and they went into a stall they were headed for trouble (when your the better team you shouldn't play not to loose but keep attacking the basket)but they were able to pull it out.:thumb:
  13. You are right. It's tough to beat Kerrie Stewart in a close game.
  14. Coach looks a little stiff, but he does clean up nicely!!
  15. Couldn't agree more that's been proven the last 2 years at Walton.
  16. I here what your saying I really do. I just think that in basketball most coaches will expect players to be the best they can be and not make the same mistakes over and over. If they do they won't be playing especially at the Varsity Level. I don't thing it's wrong to expect the same from coaching. We are not talking about elementary grade basketball this is the varsity level. With that said your point is well taken.
