  1. I officiated for several years. The rules and administration of them I understand. But I got in a discussion last night with a friend who stats a local high school team for their girls team and he made a comment that I don't know if I understand his answer or not. My question is this: What constitutes a shot attempt when you are fouled and the shot doesn't go and you go to the line? Obviously if you get fouled and complete the basket it's a shot attempt and a made basket. But what if you are grabbed, borderline intentionally, and you don't even get a shot up towards the glass? Is that a shot attempt? What about ones that clearly should have been made, but don't go and you go to the line? Are those too shot attempts? He said this, which is what I find suspicious; when a player gets fouled on the shot, if it doesn't fall, it's not a shot attempt. The only time you count it as a shot attempt is when it goes and they get the and 1. That doesn't make sense to me. Can anyone help?
  2. Really? Millions? Do you work for the History Channel?
  3. With the exception of Holmes there hasn't been any teams from NKY that have been players recently in the state poll at all. It's not a shock that Lex and Lou are the areas that the best basketball is played and that those teams dominate the rankings. Could Cooper or NewCath or one of those sneak up and beat some of the teams on the list? Sure. Could they do it consistently? Doubt it highly. I'm sure that won't be a popular opinion on this heavily NKY slanted board.
  4. If Gallatin County had won, I'm certain we would have gotten the update on the outcome much sooner.
  5. I got to see the end of the game the KY Gators played against the Spiece Higher Level. I think they lost by 15 or so. Higher level was loaded and huge. I watched the Indiana Elite Black that my nephew plays for. They beat a very good Spiece NW Stars team to make it to the final four before I had to leave to be back for church on Sunday morning. I haven't heard from my sister to find out how they did. Coach Crean was there watching the game they played that we saw last. I believe Eric Gordon, Higher Level made in on the other side of the bracket. Wish I could have watched it all.
  6. I am in Indy. The only KY team in the platinum is the Spiece Ky Gators. They start the championship bracket tomorrow afternoon against the Spiece Higher Level. As for the KY team, they have been led by Josh Payne and Austin Hunt who have had 3 solid games apiece. The Spiece Northwest team is very good and have a point guard headed to Purdue and Eric Gordon is solid and long. Great facility and atmosphere. I'll be here tomorrow for awhile and I'll try to update.
  7. I was waiting eagerly for your prediction, again.
  8. Youngman has filed for disability from carpal tunnel from filling out resume's that require you to list all previous employment.
  9. He took a bunch of kids that underachieved their entire careers and took them to the regional tournament and had them playing fairly well at the end of the year. From a basketball standpoint, I think it's hard to say he couldn't coach. However, the administration at GC surely checked the work history and saw his "nomadic" approach. He has a middle school son who can play varsity sports in our state. I'm not sure what the administration at GC was looking at then. And if you're correct, and the THNS admin never contacted GCHS either, well, that's just poor business in my opinion .
  10. Well, I'm taking my damn bat and going home too then!!!
  11. I can tell you beyond the shadow of a doubt that an HP laptop has been the single worst piece of crud I've ever bought in my adult life. It's only a step above a paper weight.
  12. Shawn Thacker sat on the bench of his son's AAU team.
  13. Is this the last game on the sideline for O'Hearn? Rumors amongst the officiating ranks is that he's hanging it up. I'm not pot stirring, just asking.
