  1. Really no big deal. Probably shouldn't have said anything anyway. I just know at least at AAU state and a few others events he was with Royal Family.
  2. Actually, not true. He finished the year with Royal Family, or whatever they were named out of Louisville. Played with Quentin Snider and James Quick, among others.
  3. Didn't Russell start last year with All Ohio Red as well?
  4. Since they won the coin toss and will play Sayre, they will definitely get out of the district. But, after that, nothing will surprise me with this team. I have been saying all year their ranking was too high. Stat of the night last night (maybe of the year) .... Henry Clay 17 Turnovers, 0 Assists.
  5. Don't see this rationale. Seems to me losing all close is bad for the post season when games gets tighter. Means the team can't win the close ones and that can't help their confidence when a close games happens in the post season.
  6. Bryan Station, Scott County and Henry Clay each split their 2 games against each other. All 3 beat Sayre. The Sayre game counts as 2 games in the standings, but is only 1 game. My understanding, that is at Sayre's request. So, that meant each team was 3-2 and Sayre was 0-3 (or 4-2 and 0-6 counting Sayre twice). So, since they split with each other, head-to-head went out the window and went into a blind draw, which Henry Clay won the No. 1 seed. The district is played at Scott County this year, so a big advantage for the Cardinals against Bryan Station.
  7. Just got word that it will be Henry Clay vs. Sayre and Scott County vs. Bryan Station.
  8. OK, I have to say I had to read the first part of this thread a couple of times to truly understand it. The reason why is I can't imagine ANYTHING that would make a coach that upset after victory. Whether or not you felt an injustice over anything, simply walk through the line and shake hands. Of course, even if Fleming lost and he was upset, he still should have done the same thing. Show a little class, which apparently this coach does not have. Although it may not have been fair to the kids of Fleming County, I wish Lewis would have made all 4 free throws and walked away with the victory. Just so stupid what this coach did. Now, as far as repurcussions, surely Starns (or Fleming administration) is going to do something about this beyond the KHSAA mandated 2 game suspension. There simply is no place for any assistant to be running his mouth at officials at any point during the game, certainly not to the point where you get back-to-back technicals after the final horn. Really makes you wonder if this coach is not a Starns fan and was trying to sabotage a victory. I know that is far fetched and probably not what happened, but somebody has to help me with the actual reason the assistant would do this.
  9. UPDATE -- Draw today. Should know pairings by late this afternoon.

Comment from STRONGOPENYON Henry Clay would rather play Scott County in a first round district game. It is interesting because this is a game of match ups. Henry Clay has the match up advantage over Scott County, but I think Bryan Station has the match up advantages over Henry Clay. Henry Clay’s length very much bothered the Scott County guards last night, but it is not an issue with Bryan Station. Also, since all of these players know each other very well, Bryan Station seems to hold a mental edge over Henry Clay. They certainly have no fear/respect for them and they play against the Blue Devils with extreme confidence. Best case scenario for Henry Clay, play Sayre in the first round and then Scott County in round two. The above was pulled from the prediction thread. I think the best scenario to get Henry Clay and Scott County into the region is for Scott County to play Bryan Station. BS will play zone against Henry Clay while Scott County is definitely never going to play zone, and Henry Clay struggles against zone. In a one-game scenario, I still think Scott County can beat Henry Clay and I still believe Henry Clay would rather play Bryan Station than Henry Clay -- especially since the district is being played at Scott County. As far as last night, Henry Clay decided to make it a half court game and Scott County had no answers offensively. The Blue Devils pressured the Cardinals bigs on the top of the flex offense and they got nothing. I know Coach Hicks made reference in the paper to holding Henry Clay was doing. I personally didn't see that any worse on one end than the other. At halftime, even though Henry Clay was up just 8, I thought the game was over. Henry Clay was 9-23 at half, but the shots they were missing were less contested and in the 5-10 foot range. Scott County missed 18 of 25 shots, but most were contested 15-20 jumpers. Having said that, I would think Hicks will have his team much more ready in the next potential matchup and I wouldn't be against Scott County in a one-game scenario. I believe the district meeting is Friday to determine the draw. Will be interesting to see how it ends up.
  11. 49-29 Henry clay after 3. They also lead rebounding 39-20.
  12. Scott County looks awful. Henry Clay 37-19. This one looks over.
  13. Henry Clay leads 25-17 at halftime. Both teams struggling shooting the ball. Blue Devils 9-23 from field, while Cardinals 7-25 (and 3-8 at line). Henry Clay defense in control of this game at half, causing Scotf County to take a bunch of tough shots.
  14. Wow, PP92 makes a prediction on the coin toss (and whatever method they use for the tiebreaker). May have to start a thread on that if Henry Clay wins tonight.
  15. I disagree with this. My opinion is deep down (and they would never tell you this) the Henry Clay coaches would much rather face Bryan Station instead of Scott County in a one-game, loser goes home scenario in the first round of the district. Of course, having said that, if Henry Clay wins tonight, they have a 1 in 3 shot of getting the No. 1 seed and playing Sayre.
  16. Scott County travels to Lexington tonight to face Henry Clay in a game that will finalize the regular season district standings. If Scott County wins, the district tournament matchups will be decided (Scott County vs. Sayre, Henry Clay vs. Bryan Station). If the Blue Devils claim victory, then it is a 3-way tie at the top that will be decided by some sort of tiebreaker at the district meeting. The Cardinals defeated Henry Clay 89-86 in overtime in December and will need big nights from the guard tandem of Quin Richardson and Trent Gilbert to win on the road. Jalen Haddix, who had 18 points in the last meeting, is a question mark for tonight's game after injuring his shoulder against Franklin County and not playing Friday against Sayre. Henry Clay comes into the game having lost three of its last four. Jordan Green leads the Devils at 14.9 points per game, followed by Christen Cunningham (12.3) and Trey Grundy (11.4). Henry Clay's ability to guard in the half court and not give up easy looks to the Cardinals will determine the outcome of this one. Based on other results in this district so far this season, you almost have to assume Henry Clay wins and makes a mess of the situation. Who you got and why?
  17. After Bryan Station goes on 14-2 run to lead 36-34 early second half, Scott County blows game open with 21-1 burst. Trent Gilbert scores 34 for the Cards. Scott County can win district title with victory at Henry Clay in early Febriary.
  18. Was 32-29 Central at half. Only stats I for at this point was Central's Quan Taylor had 24 rebounds. Henry Clay was 19-35 at line. Madison Central solidifies fact they are team to beat in 11th Region.
  19. It was 32-29 central at half. Haven't heard anything since.
  20. It only is decisive if Bryan Station wins. Scott County can win the district outright with wins over BS and then at Henry Clay in February. If SC wins tonight and Henry Clay beats SC, then it's a 3-way tie. Not sure of the tiebreaker, but since top 3 would have split everything I would assume some type of coin toss / longest straw scenario would happen.
  21. Today's win tied school record for most wins in a season. Coach Scarberry said at the beginning of the year this was probably the best team he has ever had there, and they are proving him right. So much balance!
  22. Admitttedly, I am not an expert on either of these teams. But, the final result strikes me as a little weird. Didn't Bracken County play a couple of 10th region teams (namely Pendleton and Harrison) fairly close recently. And, Bourbon County has some bad losses. Am I the only one surprised?
