Triple_Threat Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 With so many good teams out there I was curious who everyone thought might not make it to their regional tournament. I'm familiar with the 11th region so here are two of the toughest districts in the state. I'm sure seeding/draw will come into this conversation as well. The bolded I do not believe will make it to the region... 43rd District Dunbar Lexington Catholic Lafayette Tates Creek Lexington Christian 42nd District Henry Clay Scott County Bryan Station Sayre
Randy Parker Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 The 39th is not a power district, but it does a blind draw. If Augusta & Mason County draw each other...
Flotsam Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 In the 35th District, the loser of the Covington Catholic vs. Holy Cross 1st Round District Tournament game will be a pretty darn good team that does not make the Region.

Walter Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 In the 35th District, the loser of the Covington Catholic vs. Holy Cross 1st Round District Tournament game will be a pretty darn good team that does not make the Region. This is why it is so important to get the #1 seed and essentially get a "bye" with playing Beechwood in the first round. There have been many years where Holy Cross had a top 5 team in the region and didn't make it due to Covcath or Holmes being one of the top 2 or 3 teams and meeting them in the first round of districts.
Triple_Threat Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 If Bryan Station defeats Scott County tonight then I believe they lock up the 1 seed in their district and that would mean that Henry Clay or Scott County won't make region. I knew that was a possibility. Didn't know it hinged on tonight's game Purple, thanks for the update. That's a huge game then...rough district.

Clyde Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 57th district: Johnson Central is no lock I don't consider JC to be a good team.
BIG BLACK JACK Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Usually the 14th district has a school that's pretty good but fails to make it to region. This year Warren East and Warren Central have the best records in the district, both overall and within the district (each are 5-1), but Bowling Green arguably has just as much, if not more talent than both of those teams. One of those three will be left at home come region.
Rainman11 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I knew that was a possibility. Didn't know it hinged on tonight's game Purple, thanks for the update. That's a huge game then...rough district. It only is decisive if Bryan Station wins. Scott County can win the district outright with wins over BS and then at Henry Clay in February. If SC wins tonight and Henry Clay beats SC, then it's a 3-way tie. Not sure of the tiebreaker, but since top 3 would have split everything I would assume some type of coin toss / longest straw scenario would happen.
spindoc Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I don't consider JC to be a good team. Last years 15th champion who returned everyone and played the entire with an oft injured star? Yep, you're right, garbage.
Clyde Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Last years 15th champion who returned everyone and played the entire with an oft injured star? Yep, you're right, garbage. I can go off of reputation or I can look at their results. Results tell me they're not a strong team. I have no clue how good or bad their district is but they haven't played well this year.
Porky Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 This is why it is so important to get the #1 seed and essentially get a "bye" with playing Beechwood in the first round. There have been many years where Holy Cross had a top 5 team in the region and didn't make it due to Covcath or Holmes being one of the top 2 or 3 teams and meeting them in the first round of districts. Most recently last year. Could very well happen again this year. Good luck to them in the districts.

I have no clue how good or bad their district is but they haven't played well this year. Shane Hall hasn't been healthy. He's just now getting healthy. They are a threat with him vs. anyone. In this case, their record doesn't tell the tale.
