  1. Congrats to the Colonels on no easy task, having to play 3 games in one day has to be physically and mentally draining. A few weeks ago I cant imagine that anyone thought the Colonels would be in the finals but the seemed to get their act together late. Im not sure Ryle is 9 runs better then Cov Cath but I would have liked to see this game played with a day of rest to see the real Colonels play. But I am looking forward to seeing the young men on both sides go up to varsity next year and continue the competitive rivalry between the two best programs in NKY.
  2. Oh my apologies on the previous comment about the difference making. I agree its hard to win when you don't score, but even if the boys family were to move would he still be required to sit out a year. Not saying his family is moving just inquiring about the rule?
  3. Did I ever say anything about him making a difference? No.... Just wondering what colored uniform the kid will be wearing next year.
  4. Under the thread Upcoming Sophmore's in the football forum, there is a good number of posts talking about this kids future, some say its a done deal he's going to be a colonel and other disagree. Just wondering if anyone knew anything?
  5. Any truth to the rumors in a couple of football threads that state that that particular freshmen at short may be a Colonel next year?
  6. Although the Colonels did not bring their A game today, the Raiders did swing the bat pretty well after the error by the shortstop, it seemed to open the flood gate up. Not saying Cov Cath wins if Hollocher plays, but the score most likely is'nt as lopsided.
  7. Any truth to the rumors of Fredel transferring to Cov Cath next year? I read something about him switching in a football thread or two.
  8. Unfortunately that looks to be the case, what are the chances they will cancel the tournament due to weather?
  9. Who are some of the Juniors to be you speak of?
  10. I find it hard to beleive that any sophmores will get a good amount of playing time at CovCath. Especially on the D line where they return 4 or 5 seniors at that posistion, The linebacker posistion is also pretty full of upperclassmen, those sophmore however should contribute heavily their junior seasons.
  11. Search "Russian Climbing Ninjas" One of the coolest things i have ever seen.
  12. Isn't it a little bit outside of Ryle to start an underclassmen on varsity, much less a freshmen?
  13. Where does he go to Fredel go to school? And another kid that needs some work but could develop nicely is Dylan Cottingham from Cov Cath, very very strong arm behind the plate, and nothing in the dirt gets past him. I have also heard the Bertke kid from Beechwoods name tossed around a few times, anyone know anything about him?
  14. Who are some kids we should watch out for in the future? Any word on what freshmen had big rookie seasons in NKY?
  15. Any word on where the finals are to be played?
  16. He's Only about 200 pounds and has pretty good speed.
  17. Is there any chance that a team outside of the Louisville or Lexington area wins the title this year?
  18. The two CC's also played under the lights tonight at Cambell County. The Colonels jumped out to a 5-1 lead but let it slip away a little bit late. But the Cov Cath hung on and won 5-3.
  19. I don't completely understand this All A State championship event, Is it considered a true state championship? Do they get state rings? Anyone care to fill me in?
  20. I agree, Restle is an extremely underrated player who should be a leader of the Colonels defense this year.
  21. They beat an Underrated Scott team last Thursday by about 3 or 4 runs I beleive, and on Wednesday evening they got a quality win against Newport Catholic. They recently lost a close game to the Thouroughbreds while multiple players where in Louisville with the varsity squad. It just goes to show how much of a different team they are when they have everyone.
  22. As far as the seating and the fences surrounding the field, there is no comparison to St. Henry's venue. As far as playing surfaces go I would have to say that Boone County and Dixie seem to have very nice surfaces. This may be meant for another post, but with a baseball progam as good as Beechwoods, you would think they would have a little nicer field.
  23. I agree, I believe that the last two games that they have played, the Colonels have had a few of their regular players, and they have played quite well and gotten two big wins.
  24. I do agree that everyteam loses talented underclassmen to their respective varsity teams, but in most teams circumstances those players they lose are getting a good amount of playing time. Cov Cath on the other hand has lost players temporarily, while they dress for varsity but do not get off the bench. I was not trying to make excuses just trying to say, dont let their sub .500 record fool you, because, I could be wrong, but I think they will be at full strength with their normal JV roster making them a tough team to beat.
  25. Warning is no longer a fulltime varsity player, due to his lack of at bats. He played with the JV squad when they took on scott, even though the varsity team had a game as well. Logan Siemer, starting second basemen and leadoff hitter has missed several JV games to run the bases on the varsity level. Brennan Schlagbaum (sp?) has also missed JV games to pinch run for varsity, Niel Martin, Chris Gerwe and Brett Stayton I beleive have also missed JV games to do little more then sit the bench for varsity. If I'm not mistaken nearly half if not more of the CovCath JV team's losses have been without their usual starters. I agree many teams lose talented underclassmen to varsity, but in most instances they are starters at that level, only one sophmore starts varsity in this situation.
