Quite the turn around from the first meeting.

Congrats to the Dixie seniors on successful careers.

The difference in this game was Buckley and Furnish running the ball on the "O" side and Buckley and Furnish playing on the "D" side of the ball with Van Sant playing the Safety spot....

What a difference having all your starters playing....

Theoldguy called this game before the first game of the season was even played....as CovCath just plays well when playoff times comes.....

Was the game as lopsided as the score?

It was 10 - 7 at the half, but was pretty much all CovCath in the second half.

Both CovCath RB's gain over 100 plus yards each.... CovCath gets I think 266 yards rushing.....

I bet they don't next week.......:D

Nice win Blue Colonels. You were clearly the better coached and better played team tonight. I thought the 3-3-5 defense was going to be your undoing in the beginning of the game but it ended up being the perfect weapon. Nice adjustments at half and Dixie had no answer. Furnish and Buckley had a great night running the ball and Isler threw a nice ball too. I hope number 85 is OK.

Nice season Red Colonels, now it's time for us to thank the outgoing seniors for the excellent careers they've had and cheer on the Blue Colonels in the next round.

I hope Marty is ok, he wasn't his usual self at all but even so I never expected him to come out. Detmer was triple teamed all night but we never really took advantage of it enough to force CCH to change. Koski, Freeman and Eastham, it's been a joy and you will be sorely missed next season as will all the departing seniors. Joey had a decent game, but the play calling didn't make him a factor one way or the other, overall though you had a nice season son so keep your head up. Good luck to all of you.

Keep those Red Colonels heads high, SM.

Congrats to CovCath on the big district win! The defense continues to play very solid.

Wow.....

Didn't see that one coming. I don't know if anyone else who was at the game saw this, but I thought Dixie played "shell shocked" the whole game. A rather emotionless effort, and CovCath capitalized on that.

Nice win CCH, I think the 'Birds will get all they want next week.

Dixie got out coached and out played tonight. Congrats to the blue Colonels on a solid win. You did what you had to do tonight to win.

As for the red Colonels, I really don't know where to start. Let me first say congrats to all the seniors. You all had great careers, and you represented Dixie very well. You will be missed. For the game, Dixie was just flat most of the game. They didn't tackle or cover well at all. Offensively, they didn't execute, and they didn't adjust. Spritzky basically conceded to the point that CCH was going to take away Detmer with a corner, safety over top, and a linebacker inside. Not once did they move Detmer into the slot or move him in motion to try to get him the ball. You just can't allow a team to take away your biggest receiving threat. The middle of the field was wide open all night long, but yet they only went there about 3 times with success, the others were dropped or overthrown balls. In the 2nd, CCH was giving 12 to 15 yard cushions on the receivers, and it was typically 3 receivers bunched to one side with 2 DBs. All Bricking had to do was get the ball and throw. It was an easy 5 to 8 yards every time. There was no need to try to force it down field with that type of cushion. Take the yardage and move on. They did try that bubble screen to Brock quite a bit, but the development of that play takes forever. Or, run a quick slant, in, or out with one of the three receivers as the other 2 can rub off the DBs.

While I don't know if it was part of the game plan, I thought CCH came out and let Dixie know they were going to be hit all night long on every play. Dixie simply never responded. Ballgame.
