  1. Cadillac Plan = RockMom's = Big business exclusion until next year. Small business and healthy young individuals feel the pain this year. I want changes. I want coverage available to everyone. I want catastrophic coverage. I want insurance across state lines and people able to group together for better rates. I want preventative care, It is cheaper. I do not want my country going broke trying to be everything to everyone. This is about insurance , not health care.
  2. I love this show. The writting has gotten better or just the character development is the difference. I find myself laughing at Shaw. I love her interaction with the guys. The multiple plots are intriguing.
  3. Thanks to all of you for the out-loud belly laughs. Belly laughing is not always good for an old lady.
  4. Congratulations to Coach and to all the people who got behind this to make it happen.
  5. This is totally off topic, but what kind of school board meeting ends in 16 minutes? No wonder there are problems.
  6. I have no dog in this fight. I could care less if BG beats the streak. They are a good team. What disappoints me is the fact that they have been competitive against T the last years they played and I wanted those games to continue. It 's not fun to beat up on teams who aren't competitive and I don't want to watch those games. And it has been hard for T to find competitive games in KY. G' Luck to BG.
  7. The more realistic of of us Trinity fans never said a word about going undefeated this year in Kentucky games or against St X even. I think some fans said "untill". It has happened. We will move on. "Go Rocks" in the playoffs.
  8. Several memories came back as I was thinking about this. Watching my dad, as a child, participate in hog-tying and calf roping events in rodeos. Watching the original Billy Vucovich (sp) run dirt races at the Italian Ball Park in Fresno, CA. His family was friends of my dads. Having season tickets to Indianapolis Indian games when they were Reds affiliate. Saw many of the Big Red Machine in AAA. Volunteering at the Pan Am games in Indy and getting to know the Brazilian soccer team who won in 1989 (?). 25 years of Indy 500's and Season ticket holder to Colts 26 years. Watching my daughter play college soccer. But the most memorable involves my two boys taking me to a Colts / Dolphins playoff game in Miami for my birthday. The boys planned everything including the tailgating before the game. They forgot matches to light the grill and neither would ask a Miami fan for a light, so I had to. We lost the game, but the day with my boys: PRICELESS.
  9. I have to get out more when I come to L'ville. You are making me hungry for real food.
  10. I have seen multiple coaches in multiple sports quit or be fired after coaching their own children. It is difficult for the kids, difficult for the coach and fans have a ready made cause if anything goes wrong. As to the coaching situation, If you are going to compete, get yourself a coach or coaches who have paid the price to get there. Sounds like the Saturday morning guys got the job.
  11. I don't know why the Crimsons were in the end zone, but the T players found room to get thru the goal posts and run between the senior's parents onto the field. Manual players and fans were very up for the game. Lots of spirit. Coaches probably don't like that competitive of a game, but as a fan, it was good to watch. Lots better than a "beat-up on someone" game. Trinity's young secondary has problems losing receivers and the Manual QB slung the ball tonight. Short passes not so much. Manual has some big linemen, too. All in all: A win is a win. T WR Rodjay (SP) Burns # 10 injured his shoulder.
  12. I am of your grandparents generation and I find the amount of consumer debt carried by many to be disasterous. I paid for all my kids to go to a Ramsay seminar. Money well spent. His premise is don't spend what you don't have. When you have it, he doesn't mind you spending it. And to Bengal: my daughter was a hard sell, too. She got older and wiser after learning the hard way.
  13. The Colts have routinely gone to Brown since Ballard and Bradshaw have been injured. Runs differently than Trent for a change up, but not an every down back.
  14. BTW. Why is there never any love or discussion about the Colts on here? We are across the river ,too. Playing pretty good ball. Today we beat the Seahawks. I can say we because I have been a season ticket holder for 24 years.
  15. The Colts didn't bench Trent. They have been bringing Donald in all season for a few plays like this. Seems to work for Donald.
  16. For a coach: Influencing one or many young people to be better than when they came. For a player: To do the best you can do as an individual. As a team: To work together toward a goal. Success is measured by what you put in and being able to say "I did the best I could at this moment".
  17. The KY coaches in contention: Beatty Trinity Holcomb Hatcher Co, Central Hayward Belfry Larkey Harlan Co. McGlore Russell Mueller Highlands Scroggins L'ville Centtral Wallace Bowling Green Vote at Best Coach Vote as often as you want thru Oct 8 for each state then Regionals thru Oct 18, then finals thru Oct 21. Schools athletic departments win $2000. $1000, $500, $250, $100. Truly a popularity contest, so I am rooting for Scroggins of Central. Not my school coach. I feel they do good work and could use the money.
  18. There is nothing harder on a coach or his family than coaching his child. Coaches retire or are fired after this experience. There is an easy target to criticize and it can be heaped on. Please leave the kids alone. It is a team game. There are other weaknesses.
  19. Ram, These articles are very informative for any parent of an athlete. I hope Guru puts them in the college recruiting forum as a package for future use. I would mention taking both the SAT and ACT as some schools want one or the other. Also, check early with your H S guidance counselor about your core classes. Most colleges require 2 years of foreign language and certain math classes. Sometimes an on-line class is needed to qualify if you aren't the best student. I am the parent of a LD child who graduated from college and played Division I soccer. Success will be determined by finding the right fit in a school. Again, Good job. Thanks.
  20. My home town high school are "the Millers". We had a flour mill in town that donated the money for our first basketball uniforms. Many years later, other team chants were about the insect: "Swat those bugs" or "squash them."
  21. One way, 6 times a year, for 12 years , Indianapolis to Palm Beach, 1124 miles i n 19 to 22 hours, 2 drivers. In our seventies, We now stop overnight.. My parents and five kids, oldest 18, youngest 10, drove to California from Indiana on Rt 66 in a 57 Chevy in 1958. 4 Drivers in 41 hours. My dad taught me to be a rolling stone, I guess.
  22. Thanks THS for the articles. Yours are informative and well written. I appreciated that you leave the games to the coaches and players in your articles. Good job.
  23. Just reading the thread was exciting. Congratulations.
