Girls' First Team

Sara Hammond, Rockcastle County/Forward

Hammond is a two-time first-team All-State selection and took home all the major awards after leading the Lady Rockets to the state title.

Becca Greenwell, Owensboro Catholic/Guard

Greenwell, only a sophomore, led the state in scoring with 32.6 points a game and earned her second All-State selection.

Sydney Moss, Boone County/ Forward

Moss is one of six repeat players on the first team after averaging 22.8 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2.6 steals and 1.6 blocked shots for the Lady Rebels.

Kendall Noble, Perry County Central/Guard

One of the state's top contenders for Miss Basketball next season, Noble led Perry County Central to the 14th Region title in her first season at the school.

Makayla Epps, Marion County/ Guard

The 5-foot-10 Epps averaged 16.8 points, 4.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 2.6 steals in leading the Wildcats to the Sweet 16 semifinals, where they lost to Manual.

Chastity Gooch, Franklin-Simpson/Forward

Gooch was named Fourth Region Player of the Year the past two seasons and is on the first team for a second time. She averaged 23 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots a game during her senior season.

Lauren Tibbs, Scott/Center

Tibbs leaves Scott High as the school's all-time leader in points, rebounds and blocked shots. She was also an all-state volleyball player.

Carla Booth, Sheldon Clark/ Guard

The 5-foot-7 point guard finished her third consecutive year as the 15th Region Player of the Year by leading the Lady Cardinals to the Sweet 16, where they lost in the quarterfinals.

Averee Fields, Calloway County/Forward

Fields averaged 23.8 points and 12.9 rebounds and shot 57 percent from the field as the Lady Lakers won the First Region and made it to the Sweet 16 semifinals.

Kyvin Goodin-Rogers, Marion County/ Forward

Another repeat first-team choice, Goodin-Rogers also is one of the top 50 sophomore prospects nationally. This past season, she averaged 11.5 points and 9.5 rebounds and blocked 95 shots.

Prisha Rogers of Clark Co. was voted 2nd best player in the region by 10th region coaches, made the KY/Indiana All-Star team, was named All-State honorable mention (Lexington Herald Leader). Yet the Courier Journal does not even have her listed as an honorable mention for the 10th Region?

The Courier Journal doesn't picks the players. They have the coaches list the ten best players they have played against, so the coaches failed her. She is a good player.

Correction. The ten best players the coaches have "seen" this season. The article said they received 95% of the votes before the sweet 16.

Prisha should have been listed at least 2nd or 3rd team for the 10th Region. Just goes to show sometimes the good players get left out.
