Deters is just like any parent today, Thier child can do no wrong and it has to be the coach's fault. T and X are T and X for a reason. yeagle and Mueller are great coaches but do we honestly think they could beat T or X with that team and only 6 days to prepare?

If they would've face T that year,2009, they would have beat them,IMO. They came within six of beating X @ X

that season with Simpson on the sideline after the first quarter. Then X went on to beat T 34-10.

 

This thread is a joke. Get your facts right before you spew false infromation. ST. X beat them 48-34, not by six. Miles was injured in the 3rd quarter and SK actually played better with Chad Lawrence running the show in the hurry up offense because they were so far behind early on.

I agree with the call that the offense remains the same no matter the athlete, although he did run a little out of the "I" backfield last year to keep their QB upright. Not sure that amounts to "change", the skill set of athletes changes every year, it is your job as a coach to adjust your scheme to the skill set you have, IMO Marksberry has done a poor job of that in the past.

I am pretty sure they did not run the spread offense when Bishop was there. They ran the same offense for 3 years because THEY HAD THE SAME QUARTERBACK THERE. Last year they tried several things that did not work. Let's face it SK's offense looks similar to most other HS offenses right now. They all try to do the same things just like the NFL HS football is a copy cat league. If you went to every football program in the state of KY over 1/2 would run some version of the spread.

This happens quite often in HS athletics. It is going on right now at Cooper HS as well as Borchers is the AD and head football coach. The only thing this changes is that the head coach in question reports directly to the principle instead of the AD. They do not get to evaluate themselves.

Someone who doesn't know much about football. You can flip coaches in this game and the current T coach would have got his butt kicked by his other team.

I haven't watched SK enough over the years to know whether Marksberry is a great coach or a terrible one. But I do know that way too many folks overly discount the impact a great coaching staff has on a team's success. Those folks tend to think it's just a matter of the johnies and joes. Well a great coaching staff develops poor johnies and joes in to average players; average johnies and joes into good players; and good johnies and joes into great players. That's what helps define great coaches.

Bulldog you and RU are exactly right. This man is an embarrassment to his old HS and hometown. In 08 I heard him publicly bashing Marksberry and the school system when they finished 4th in the district. It was at his restaurant before he changed the name and then the week before the State Championship he was praising the entire coaching staff. His picture should be in the dictionary under Obnoxious and Idiot.

He chooses to stay in the background while kids that live in the SK district march off to other high schools, and that has and will continue to hurt him. There are kids spread out across NKY that should be walking the halls at SK, but do not. It's a shame that HS has become a quasi recruiting gig, but open enrollment and the parochial schools have made it to where you MUST fight to keep kids in your own district. I hear the "we only want kids here that want to be here" line all the time, but thats a cop out. Make them want to be there. Trend is continuing this year, have heard of a couple kids from Summit View that are pretty good players are off to Dixie, one of which I know is in the SK district, and I am just about 100% convinced the Stringer kid is off to Beechwood to join the Bright boys, so that's five good football players that will not be wearing SK blue. A kid here or there does not make or break a football team, but you start adding up five or six kids a year and that just kills the depth that is so important.

You obvious want to make kids remain at their schools, but I see it as a check and balance system. I think all schools should have open enrollment. If you want your school to prosper, to grow, to overachieve you have to make your school the better choice. My school has doubled in size since I graduated 20 years ago, we have open enrollment, every school in area has open enrollment. How does a school grow with open enrollment? Easy, they compete and make their school a better choice for prospective students. If a school does that, they will grow and prosper from open enrollment. If they don't', well they will suffer.

 

You don't make your school better by chaining students to the building. You make your school better by making students to want to go there.
