Cooper will have their struggles offensively but they will make it miserable for you with their half court D. When they get a night like they did tonight from manniacci they will be a tough out.

Dixie fans aren't going to like hearing this, but it sounds like not having Pike cost them a chance at repeating. He is that strong inside player who plays great D, hits the boards and can neutralize another team's big man.

 

That was my initial thought.

Cooper once again played great defense. Collins was lights out in the second half. Maniacci played one of his best offensive games of the year. Way to go Coach Sullivan!!! His team plays with his fire!!! Go CoopSquad!!!!

Without a doubt. I think we all know now important Pike was to this team.

This was the first time seeing a Cooper boys team play and was pleasantly surprised by the Jaguars.

 

Collins' only blemishes shooting were from inside the arc when he went 1-for-3, but he was 5-for-5 from 3-point range and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Dixie was flat outplayed. They stood around a lot and Hatton wasn't a factor until the 2nd half. Hassel kept them in the game in the first half. Really impressed with the big kid from Cooper. Dixie just didn't have anyone to stop with Stansbury in foul trouble most of the night. Collins was lights out. When the outside/inside game works like that they are going to be real tough to beat in the 9th.

I have a few thoughts. Cooper may have lost some games this year as they were growing as a "team" but they were given zero chance by many. In all honesty, I only gave them a small chance. However, when you can beat Holmes and Boone twice in the same season, then you have a solid club "capable" of beating anyone in the 9th region (this year). Very few teams ever beat Boone twice in a season.

 

Roman got the match-up he wanted when he wanted to see Dixie and Cooper but I'm not sure why he wanted this match-up.

 

When Stansbury got in foul trouble Dixie had no one that could handle Maniacci. AJ is a streaky shooter and when he is on, look out.

 

Newcath looks like a bad match-up from what I saw tonight as they had several big men who could play but I wouldn't count out the Jag's but they will have to play their best. Congrats on a great win!!

I said he'd be the missing factor this year. His demeanor and attitude on the basketball floor was always positive when I saw him play, unlike on the football field. However, I don't think it would've helped. It sounds like the basketball team had some similar issues down the stretch that the football team had.

I agree. Dixie played as if they were entitled that will get you beat every time against a good team. You really have to play to win this region, especially this year. The parity is evident.
