How long did it take you to be "addicted" to BGP?

I was addicted almost instantly approximately 10 years ago. I cut back a few years ago, then jumped back into the thick of things. About a year ago I decided not to renew my subscription and it eventually expired around May. I went about 6 months without checking BGP at all, then started checking it every once in a while (once every few weeks typically late at night).

Obviously I renewed my subscription a few weeks ago, mainly to get involved in about 5 threads that I found interesting when I wasn't a paying subscriber (it has since grown). I don't check BGP nearly as often as I used to, but I still check it nightly (on weeknights), but not nearly as often as I used to. I generally don't check it on the weekends.

Just a few days.

I joined because of the high school sports in January 2004. My school won both the girls and boys district tournaments that year, and made it to the semifinals of the regional tournament. At the time there were quite a few Eastern Kentucky members for me to discuss things with, but many are no longer members. I'm still here though, and just signed up for 2 more years.

One of my favorite forums now is P&R, although I mostly read and don't post very often like I do in the sports forums.

I got on to promote a relative who was a great basketball player because I heard college coaches read BGP. I was hooked from my first couple days.

You already got an earful from my wife Guru so you know how much she loves it. She calls it the OTHER WOMAN.

I was young when i joined in 2005, so it took me a year or so. Now BGP kills my battery atleast twice a day on my phone. I was sad when i had to switch usernames due to my father passing away and my old username was paid for under his paypal. Sure do wish i was able to have that back. But BGP is literally about the only website I get on, and I stay on it whenever possible.

BTW, can a mod help me. I really would like to have my old username back, but was never able to figure out how to do it. What would I need to do to get it back since it was under my deceased fathers paypal account? Someone could PM me if they feel like that's a better way to communicate on this.

It's hard to to say when I actually became 'addicted'. I was a weekday poster back when I joined. I joined to follow knowledgable Boyle County fans. I think the Boyle County/Southwestern game during Coach Pardue's tenure is what got me becoming a regular poster. That and the Mercer County consolidation state championship. I was pretty much on here all of the time after that but once I got my first iPhone is when I think my addition went to whole other stratosphere.

I'd be willing to bet money that I am in the top 5 of member's time spent on here. I stay on BGP. And wouldn't have it any other way.

About 3 months. I never realized there were other forums besides HS Football when I first joined. Seriously. The layout was a lot different during that time. One late 7 bourbon evening I investigated the site a little more and realized there was a lot more discussion ensuing beyond Football.
