I see Villa Madonna playing Heritage Academy tonight. That has to be one of the smallest capacity gyms in the state. Any idea how many can fit into Heritage academy?

Not an easy find but Heritage Academy, stands only on one side. Pretty small. I know of several years Heritage had the states most profecient scorer in both girls and boys basketball.

I would have to say Madison Central's gym is pretty neat. It still has that old appeal to it, but since they put new lights in there it makes the floor very bright, and everything else kinda dark. Plus there is a lot of good basketball played in that gym!

Burgin has to be close. I was told they can't host the district tourney because it is so small.

I love the gym in good ole Augusta, it is such a unique place and they made some major upgrades the last couple of years: painting the gym, redoing the floor, changing the concession stand. It is just a very cool place to watch a HS basketball game.

 

Henry County does have a great gym, it is huge, but has that old school feel to it. They host a great Holiday tourney every year and the regional there is hard to beat for basketball action.

 

Obviously The Fieldhouse in Maysville is an awesome gymnasium and a great place to host the region. I am not a fan of the regionals being held any where else except Mason County, but that it the 10th region to me, regional at The Fieldhouse.

Going with Cordia for smallest. KHSAA says 200 for capacity.

Sitting in the RobyDome now. Hadn't been here in a while. The Marion Conty fans sit all over the gym thus eliminating a visitors section. Definitely adds to the personality of the gym as the personalities cheer. :lol:

Why would Henry get rid of that old beauty of a scoreboard? I'm sure the new one is nice but that thing had charm.

 

I love Henry County's gym. Has alot of history and the old time feeling. They did remove the center court scoreboard. Why, I don't know. They now have one scoreboard on each end of the gym.

They even did that free-for-all stuff at the girls' 5th Region tourney last year, which made for some weird fan interactions, especially during the E'town-LaRue game.

One woman even told us that we were sitting on the home side and we look across the gym and it is all Maroon over there also. :lol:

 

 

We stayed. No problems at all. I even had a good conversation about UK football with a Marion fan.

 

 

I love their scoreboard.

 

Just finished a game at Holmes, Very nice after its facelift. Having won a 2009 State Championship certainly adds some nice touches on the walls.

I am not sure the capacity, but Model in Richmond has a small gym. It is the size of a middle school floor, bleachers on one side. Maybe seven rows of bleachers. It has a tight feel to it. There are a few bleachers above the floor on one end zone. Nice old feeling.

One of the gyms I played in with a personality was the old Nicholas County gym. It had about 7 rows of bleachers on both sides, and it always seemed to be darker than normal in there. Made it feel like the crowd was right there on the bench with you.
