Of all the people before him on the said lists, only one, Hunter Bowles, has a D1 offer, and that's as a TE to Louisville.

Maybe there is a T fatigue factor among voters.

I probably should have completed my statement by saying they probably meant to have Logan Woodside named as Honorable mention rather than Zach Bowman. Logan had an excellent year as the starting QB for Franklin County. Zach, who was the starting QB the previous year, was a senior who also had an excellent year on the field. He battled for the starting QB position his Senior year, but when it didn't happen he made a strong contribution primarily on the defensive side and as backup QB. Got to give him a lot of credit.

Absolutely. :thumb: Good post.

How do you recognize a TEAM when the awards are for INDIVIDUALS?

Who would you take off in place of someone from Belfry?

Dixon should have been there before Canady, Shipley, and even Jackson at defensive back.....
Not sure if it's done intentionally or not, but Jody has to be very careful with the Trinity talk, coming from his way. Being an alum and all. Believe me, I don't need to see all state accolades in regards to these young men. The recruiting trail, tells the story. Enjoy the plaque.

Are these all-state teams suppose to be based on how they performed in high school or on their college potential? That being said, I'm sure that some of the coaches who vote tend to shy away from voting for too many on one particular team.

I stand by my comment to you. There are agendas in regards to the media......not in recruiting. Check him out there.

No "agendas" in recruiting? Not sure I agree with that. As asked in another post, is this an award for accomplishments in HS or for potential in the future? Recruiting is based much more on future potential than past accomplishments.

By your reasoning, Zeke Pike should have been the 2nd Team QB since he has D1 offers and Elite11 status, right?

Bingo! The bolded is spot on. Trinity or any other school could have undeniably the best 22 players in the state and there is no way that even close to a majority would be on the coaches' or the sportswriters' all state teams. Right, wrong or otherwise, the selections do NOT reflect the best high school players. There are just inherent flaws in the selection process of both teams. Accept them for what they are. It makes the issue much easier to understand (and tolerate if you think a very deserving player was left off the list). I think the All-BGP team is a better reflection of who the better high school football players were this past season, but it will not be universally accepted either. The entire concept of "what player is best" is an extremely subjective one to begin with.

Congrats to all the kids selected.

I guess the following feel that a 3rd teamer, from KY, must be pretty good:

Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee

Need to add the Michigan Wolverines to that list. They offered this week.

Eastern Ky. and Southern Ky. players are always left out of state wide polls.....a true poll should include ALL of the state, not just heavily populated areas....perfect example is Belfry and Hazard this year.......politics and where you are from should be completely left out of the balloting!!!!

Another 3rd Teamer Jeffrey Canady of Knox Central also has some pretty good schools interested in him. Im hearing some solid Div 1 schools including Nebraska, West Virginia, etc.

I read about this kid recently. Very good speed and decent size.

How do you accomplish a "fair" team?

If you make it to the finals, then "fairness" would mean you deserve at least one player to be voted on the 1st team offense or defense.......surely you could find one with no problem!!!

I disagree to your "finals" point.

This issue will never be resolved because there is no one or no group who has the time or desire to watch multiple games of every team. It's a crapshoot at best and that's to be expected.

RP, Hatcher is a good player and a great talent. I just feel from watching him closely he is not what everyone says he is RIGHT now. He has the potential to be possibly the best DLineman to come from the state but he takes way too many plays off and is very inconsistent on the field. When he wants to he dominates and can beat any block. But that's when he wants to. He has a lot of growing up to I feel. I see what the colleges are saying and looking at in regards in to his athleticism and potential. But as a football player he isn't there yet.
