Courier Journal All State Team

Wow, reading the posts in this thread you would think this list isn't any better than the AP list. Who would have thought:idunno:

There are always going to be complaints. Prejudice about your own team's players and not seeing the majority of the other players on the team to be able to compare lead to complaints. That is why I try to never knock a player who is on one of these teams because they were obviously good enough in a lot of people's eyes to earn the recognition. I can't say they aren't because I haven't seen the majority of the players to be able to compare. But I know enough about football players, talent, skill and productivity to see a player who should be recognized and gets left off the list. That is where I complain.

Everyone can't get a trophy. I'd be willing to bet the NKY kids that some feel were snubbed will be on the BGP team.

But why call the list garbage when, like you said, no one has seen ever kid play. Truth is, other then Jackson from Mayfield being left off the AP list, this one isn't any better or worse. BGP's list won't be any better or worse. There all different. They make some happy and some mad. Whose happy and whose mad will depend on the list. What I do like about BGP's list is they don't try to make everyone happy by putting half the kids in state on it. It's alot simplier to debate who is the best versus who is 3rd team or HM.

Definitely agree. I only want the ones who deserve the trophy to get one.

As to the BGP team, there are fewer players on that team (total of 36 I believe) so it will be even harded for the players I listed to get recognition there.

How do you recognize a TEAM when the awards are for INDIVIDUALS?

Who would you take off in place of someone from Belfry?

I agree 100%, but an argument could definitely be made for Dixon to be at the very least on the 2nd Team Defense. Belfry did not really have any true standout/feature players like they have had in year's past (Jones, Howard, Varney, etc), but Dixon was far and away the one player who brought the "wow" factor. As I said above, I find it hard to believe there were 6 better DB's than Dixon, let alone 9.

In the spirit of fairness, I thought Trey Willis did a fantastic job and certainly deserves accolades, but I don't see him being ahead of Davenport of Bell or Hayes of Garrard.

I hear you and don't disagree. I just agree with other posters who have said if someone omitted should be added then which player(s) should be removed.

^ He really had a monster season this year. The coaches loved his motor. He sucked up many blockers, allowing the others to shine. I'd check your facts before posting that sort of material on here. Again, he had a great year.

People in the know have checked the facts and they all agree Hatcher is 3rd team all state . Are you going to tell me Demling doesn't know high school football ? Maybe he will make 1st or 2nd team all BGP , it really doesn't matter , he is a good player .

Carter New would be on my all state ballot....what more can a kid do for his team? But I am very sure he wouldn't trade ANY of his 5 rings for an all-state team mention! Congrats to all who made it...and to all the others who coulda' shoulda' !

Quick and Hatcher bothed picked up offers from Michigan.

Demling's thoughts on the selections.

I agree with him on T's Hatcher only making 3rd team.

I re-read this and figured out I wasn't clear.

I find it hard to believe there are better DEs than him.

This is not a Demling team. This is a coach team. Demling was shocked about Hatcher.

Who would you replace for Hatcher ?

It is what it is . I just thought it was odd that the CJ didn't have Hatcher on the 1st or 2nd team. No big deal .

The all state committees and Demling doesn' t agree with you on Hatcher. I'm with Demling ! :D

For a team that is arguably #1 in the nation , and as you say , have 12 to 14 legit D1 players , the all state nominations are kind of slim.

CJ First team

Quick

Warburg

White

CJ Second team

Dawkins

Reynolds

AP First Team

Quick

White

2nd Team

Wright

Dawkins

I have nothing against Hatcher , Trinity or you , but the AS numbers don't add up . Can you explain why ?

Not sure if it's done intentionally or not, but Jody has to be very careful with the Trinity talk, coming from his way. Being an alum and all. Believe me, I don't need to see all state accolades in regards to these young men. The recruiting trail, tells the story. Enjoy the plaque.

I stand by my comment to you. There are agendas in regards to the media......not in recruiting. Check him out there.

I guess the following feel that a 3rd teamer, from KY, must be pretty good:

Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisville, UNC, State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee
