As to scholarships/financial aid/etc., the rule is an athlete can not receive and aid that is not being offered to the general student body. If you are offering reduced tuition to an athlete, you must offer the same level of reduced tuition to other students in similar financial circumstances.

Just curious....if a student at a private school (who had played some varsity minutes) needed to transfer to a public school because the family could no longer afford tuition at the private school, would that student have to sit out a year at their in district public school?

You would have to appeal to the KHSAA and hopefully get support from the schools involved to back up the claim. Yes, the KHSAA will allow an athlete to play without sitting out due to financial circumstances once an appeal is made, heard and verified.

What is proff? Proof? Read between the lines. You think a kid is just going to go there on a whim? People were on here saying he was there and going to transfer. Somebody is in his ear, I would imagine.

For all I know he found God. I have no idea what sparked him to take a tour and think about a transfer. Which is probably the same as you know. I could care less what he decides as well.

My son has parents of other kids telling him he should go to the school their kids goes to and play sports for that school. Big deal, is he getting recruited? No he is not. It has been happening to him for a few years and it is harmless, I think it is done to make the kids feel good but I bet the parent would love for him to do that, if for no other reason he would not be playing for a rival/other school. Again big deal. The kids and his parents need to make the best decission for the kid, no talking in the ear is going to make that call.

Lead your statement with I would imagine then it would sound more like your thought not your statement.

Also, so you know, the web page for HC invites kids and parents to come and take a look at the school, every kid and parent is welcome to the school for a tour. Is that crossing the line in your book?

A few points from reading through this thread.

One, the KHSAA is not going to release info on their decisions and ruling because it deals with minors.

Two, I don't know how the "non-performing school" comes into play in regards to private/parochial schools, no matter the public school, because the private/parochial schools are not held to the same standard as the public schools.

Private and parochial schools are not held to the same accountability model instituted by the Kentucky Department of Education and I do not believe they are held accountable to No Child Left Behind.

This would be apples to oranges, because private/parochials are not held to the same standard. I just do not see how this could be applicable.

As mentioned before, the three common uses to determine eligibility in regards to transfers is: (a) a bona fide change of residence; (B) a divorce and a resulting change of residence to live with one parent due; and © a change in custody (pursuant to court order) to one parent or to a third person where the court has found that (1) the parents are unfit, or (2) the health and welfare of the student would be better served by the change in custody.

Last time I checked didn't NCC have someone transfer in in the middle of his senior year for baseball???

He transfered from Walton Verona, but I think it was his junior year, half way through.

The same one! Travis did get some action this year in mop-up roles in blowouts. He was 5 of 8 for 106 yds and a TD. He rushed 21 times for 186 yds and a TD.

Chris Carter has a program no inter city kid left behind, funded by him and the NFL, the program lets city kids go to a private Schools for less money and the program pays the bill, as far as I know only HC takes these kids from that program. NCC CC and St. H don't, but I could be wrong.
