True they r not transfers but this is a totally diff conversation! One guy said better than the ones they use to bus in from cincy... Who were not transfers, and the other guy said same bus Beechwood and highlands r using! Then the other guy said name them! So the conversation had gotten away from transfers! I am simply stating that beechwood is busing them in also..

 

Again, Beechwood (Fort Mitchell) is an independent school district, just like Ft. Thomas. There are several students, not just athletes, that live outside of Fort Mitchell and attend Beechwood for the academics. The only bus that Beechwood owns sits in the school parking lot 24/7 and fires up the engines only to transport teams or groups to an event. I did not think of this before, but maybe the Beechwood bus is stopping at football players' homes outside of Fort Mitchell on the way home from events and letting the kids sleep in the bus until school starts the next morning.

Let the kid play and let open enrollment prevail throughout the state. If the Catholic schools can get away with it then the Independent ones should as well. It just so happens that Highlands and Beechwood can match great football programs with top notch academics. As many kids that seek out the winning football program for their child I would say there are just as many if not more kids attending from out of district strictly for academics. Jmo

For a lot of these people who transfer or go to schools out of district, it is easy to say its for academic reasons because most of these schools have good academics too. Like the private schools, Highlands, Beechwood, etc. I really doubt that those schools would get nearly as many out of district students if say they still had great academics but bad sport programs. Sports play a bigger role IMO for a lot of these transfers, and out of district students for schools. Those schools having good acedmics too is just a bonus to them. It would be different if it was only good academics and bad sport programs. If you have both though good sport programs and good athletics, then you are set because people will switch or move to that area to attend those schools. Which then just makes things go round and round, because that then helps their sports programs stay good and then get even better.

I didn't mean the athletes chose for academic reasons, that is typically the vanilla excuse and i get that. What i meant was There are just as many non-athletes who seek these type of schools strictly for academic purposes

We moved to Fort Mitchell two years ago. Unless my 2 youngest girls can convince Coach Rash to let them play football then we definately moved for the Beechwood academic experience. At this point I have no idea if my two youngest will even play a sport. My oldest stayed behind to finish high school in Michigan so she could continue playing lacrosse. She is being heavily recruited to play college lacrosse but her grades will get her the lion's share of the scholarship money as is the case with many Beechwood kids. I am not the only parent that realizes this.

Just very confusing and hard to understand the process, I thought that if you live in Kentucky and you attend a school in Ohio you cannot compete at that school. Doesn't it work the same way in Kentucky?

Just funny if he was an academic All-American prolly wouldn't get his "stability". HC needs to get there back scratched as well .
