I don't think so. The eligibility rules are the same for all schools - unless the KHSAA comes out with some explanation on how these kids are getting eligible that would not apply to a public school. As I have stated throughout the thread, the KHSAA needs to tell everyone how this is happening because there is nothing under the rules that explains it.

But they are not transfers. Big difference. In Kentucky, for the most part you can attend any high school you want and it doesn't matter where you live. There are many many kids, not just athletes, who chose to attend a high school outside the district they live in and they are free to participate in any extra curricular activity they want.

 

The question here is about transfers - specifically, students who have already attended high school somewhere else and participated in a varsity sport at that previous high school. KHSAA rules say any time that high school student with varsity experience transfers, he is automatically ineleigible for a year. That is the rule. There are exceptions to that rule with the main one being the student's family moves to a new district. So how are students from another high school with varsity experience who have not moved becoming eligible and not being forced to sit out a year as the rule states?

 

True they r not transfers but this is a totally diff conversation! One guy said better than the ones they use to bus in from cincy... Who were not transfers, and the other guy said same bus Beechwood and highlands r using! Then the other guy said name them! So the conversation had gotten away from transfers! I am simply stating that beechwood is busing them in also..

On a sidenote HC had to bring in a new backboard this week due to Mr. Campbell's dunk bring down the rim and leaving a hole in the backboard.

I dont think I could blame the kid if he did, if the kid wants to play football you need players that are around you to want the same. Holmes seems to fall apart every year so how is that doing him any good.

So, to heck with the rules! Well, if he truly wanted to be around players who want to play football, then he might think about HHS, BW, NCC, etc. I think there are players there that want to play football.

I didnt say anything about his eligability or not. All I said was I coukd see why he would want to transfer.

It does show why you dont want him to, because it isnt to your school. Thats the only reason half of the people on here complain about a transfer so I guess you fit in.

If I am not mistaken, Boone Co. not only restricts students within their system, they are one of the few, perhaps only, districts I know of that will not release state money if a student chooses to attend a high school outside of Boone County. As a result the student pays a higher tuition at his/her choosen high school.

 

As of last year, Boone County schools released money to the new school. I do not know if something has changed this year.
