December 5, 201114 yr The Exorcist, no question about it. My oldest brother and one of his high school buddies showed it to me when I was 8 or 9. As if this image wasn't enough for me to have nightmares about: ...for months after showing me the movie, they'd sneak up to my bedroom door and start scratching or thumping on the door and rattling off lines from the movie in the scariest sounding voices they could make. "What an excellent day for an exorcism." "Damie...why you do this to me, Damie?" "Fear the priest! Merrin...Merrin!!" And no joke, I actually got the chills looking at that picture as I uploaded it for this post.
December 5, 201114 yr The original Salem's Lot made me sleep with the lights on. I was only 9 or 10 when I saw it. The scene where the kid is floating outside his brother's window gave me nightmares for weeks.

December 5, 201114 yr For me, it was Soylent Green and Willard. Don't even remember the whole movies, but remember the green wafer/crackers and the rats. Would probably look back at them now and laugh.
December 5, 201114 yr The Xcorcist Stood in a line to see this movie at the old Madison Theater in Covington. The line went up Madison Avenue and down 8th Street. We were even issued "barf" bags when we went in. Somehow my brother, who was under 17 at the time, got into the movie. It scared him so bad he still cannot watch it!!

December 5, 201114 yr No movies, really... But there was a couple of episodes of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" that scared me stupid when I was younger. You and me both. Toss in Goosebumps too.
December 6, 201114 yr The Omen is one that comes to mind. As a young Catholic, I looked up at the cross on the steeple every time I went into church, after watching that movie.
