Never had nightmares in my childhood, except for about snakes and spiders.

An oldie...House on Haunted Hill (1959 version). It was on TV by the time I was 10 or so, and we would watch it on sleepovers.....scary stuff!

I can respect that. I don't really get in to horror movies these days unless they have a really good plot. I can only take so much gore, possessed children, sudden movements with the music changing, etc. Let's change it up a little bit.

 

And slasher movies? Come on. No matter how fast you run, they casually walk behind and catch you like it's nothing.

 

So for the most part, I just avoid the genre altogether.

 

If you want a horror movie that is actually a good film watch Let The Right One In. The American version is Let Me In and it's good, but the foreign film is better.

I didn't see this one until a drunken night in college (roommate owned it). I can definitely see where this would have freaked me out as a lil kid haha!

 

Oh ya, me and Mom had to have a long discussion about how movies were 100% fake after I watched that one, the babysitter that brought the VHS also was never invited back. I think I was 6 or so when I watched it. I've also honestly never had the nerve to watch it as an adult now.

When a Stranger Calls was pretty rough for me. Saw the original in HS with my gf. I was okay until the very end when the door opens and it's the cops. That movie built so much suspense and tension. It still gives me the creeps. "Why haven't you checked the children?" is one of the creepiest lines ever.

 

The Phantasm movies creeped me out because of the "tall man" in them. Something about him just scared me.

 

Can't believe nobody has mention Psycho. I seriously did not shower with the curtain fully closed for years.

I was only two when it came out. But according to my parents Miss Finch from Follow That Bird scared me to death. We had to leave the theater midway through the movie. :lol:
