I feel like this thread could give us some really random responses, but what movies gave you nightmares when you were a kid?

 

My biggest one was "The Beastmaster". It really isn't even a scary movie really, but those giant bat-looking creates that would immediately digest you and spit out your bones scared the crap out of me. I'd always have nightmares that they were flying in to get me, which they turned out to help the main character at the end. Still, I made my parents give me a flashlight to sleep with because of that movie. I bet some of you have never even seen it.

Halloween

Wasn't a movie but scared me to death, Michael Jackson's "Thriller" video. Saw that when I was around 3-4 years old, man it scared me to death.

Pet Sematary. Saw it when I was WAY too young.

No movies, really... But there was a couple of episodes of "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" that scared me stupid when I was younger.

Twister. Messed me up for years.

Being perfectly honest, I still can't watch scary movies. I'm the little girl of the group. I've been made fun of by every girl I've ever dated. Atleast it let's me play the sensitive card.

I can respect that. I don't really get in to horror movies these days unless they have a really good plot. I can only take so much gore, possessed children, sudden movements with the music changing, etc. Let's change it up a little bit.

 

And slasher movies? Come on. No matter how fast you run, they casually walk behind and catch you like it's nothing.

 

So for the most part, I just avoid the genre altogether.

That's funny, I watched one of those episodes fairly recently and was expecting it to be sort of "Scooby-doo-esque" where the "ghost" was always some guy trying to scare people, but it was a literal ghost story. Surprised it didn't give more kids nightmares. :lol:

Movies never really gave me nightmares but some that scared me quite a bit are: The Shining, Carrie (the ending was startling), The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, Jaws, Deliverance.

I don't remember the movie well, but I remember somehow watching Poltergeist and being scared to death. :lol:
