November 30, 201114 yr Author Here's my favorite part of their statement: "That the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church does not condone interracial marriage. Parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services and other church functions, with the exception being funerals. Funerals are cool guys.
November 30, 201114 yr Here's my favorite part of their statement: "That the Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church does not condone interracial marriage. Parties of such marriages will not be received as members, nor will they be used in worship services and other church functions, with the exception being funerals. Funerals are cool guys. So you are welcome if you're a dead interracial couple but not if you're a living interracial couple?
November 30, 201114 yr What a complete joke. How big is this church? If it has like 20 members all the same family like Westboro Baptist, is it really necessary to even report this?
November 30, 201114 yr I'm not saying I buy into it but when people that are not from EKY hear this story their first thought is going to be based on the stereotype and not on the religion. Remember, the KKK was "about religion" as well. You mean a "certain Secret Society".
November 30, 201114 yr Author So you are welcome if you're a dead interracial couple but not if you're a living interracial couple? That's the way I'm interpreting that line.
November 30, 201114 yr WOW, that is unbelievable. Is the first thought that came to my head. I don't really even have a comment for how shallow those people are.
November 30, 201114 yr So, if you're a Pikeville city councilman, are you expelled if you marry a redneck woman?
November 30, 201114 yr That's just sad. Promoting greater unity for the church? Ya the church body that hates together stays together....
November 30, 201114 yr So much for the "Freewill" in "Gulnare Freewill Baptist Church". Free to come, just please sit in the back so we don't have to acknowledge your existence.:ohbrother:
November 30, 201114 yr Author http://www.calgarysun.com/2011/11/30/kentucky-church-says-no-interracial-couples-allowed I knew this one would go national...
November 30, 201114 yr It says in their goofy little resolution that the move is not intended to "judge the salvation of anyone" but is designed to promote "greater unity among the church." Forgetting the numerous levels on which that is absurd, it doesn't seem that move is a theological one, but a political or administrative one. Does anyone know what year it is? I seem to have fallen through some sort of rift into 1955. We're still having discussions about miscegenation? Really? Here's a link to the story. Sounds like uniformity, not unity.
November 30, 201114 yr This is why I am skeptical of all churches and why I fear being in EKY. This church makes churches look bad and it makes EKY look bad and that isn't fair to churches or people in EKY who don't practice ignorance. In general, I'm skeptical of people, so I've got all my bases covered.
