Since this thread is clearly still thriving, I wanted to revisit the questionable "no call." I originally called this a bang-bang play and the right call was made. I take it back! Noel was right. It was P.I.

Not when #8 tipped it!

That still is non conclusive because you dont know if #8 Ross had touched the ball as it went by and when #47 M.Jackson's hand went to his back. If #8 touched the ball before #47 wrapped his arm it's a no call. Do you know that ?

^ If #8 did not tip the ball, the picture clearly shows pass interference. I thought the ball was tipped by someone in front of Vocke, who I now assume was #8. So we need to see video to know for sure. I guess it proves a point if it truly was pass interference but that is all. If it was pass interference, that still doesn't mean Beechwood wins. Of course Beechwood would like to have another play or two with a chance to win but IMO it is still 50/50 that they are able to punch it in for the game winning TD. Of course I believe they would have scored but I also expected to win the game by a couple of TD's and I obviously was wrong on that. Beechwood was out of timeouts, there was only time for another couple plays and Beechwood had trouble moving the ball all night.

Obviously #47 is making contact. If he were able to initiate contact as a reaction to #8 tipping the pass, I would credit him with having the quickest reflexes in human history. I still contend a lot of the contact was of a result of the receiver having to readjust to the pass. Did the referee give a tipped ball signal? I just remember the incomplete signal from the back judge. Again, I was fine with no flag being thrown.

As bugatti said, if he was hitting him only after the ball was tipped, it would be pretty impressive reflexes. We are also not talking mere "contact" #47 has his arm completely around him. Which to me would suggest its not the result of the receive adjusting to the ball. Unless you are suggesting Vocke ran under his arm to do so. I would need to look at the video along with this picture. I can't remember stuff I saw yesterday, yet alone a month ago.

I have wanted to weigh in on this play but decided not to mention this just after the game while still painful for the Bwoodians. I have 3 different videos all from 3 different angles of this game. The first is from mid field atop the home stands and is to far away to tell for sure. There is a second that is also inconclusive from afar from the Beechwood side and the video filmed from the camera on the scaffeling in the endzone just a few yards behind the play. Or in otherwords it is a view from just to the left of where this picture is taken and from about 20 feet in the air. The pass was slightly behind the reciever and Vocke adjusted by pulling up and the Cardinal safety then came into contact a mili second after the ball passed by Ross #8. I have watched it about 20 times and this is a great view and at a very close proxcimity to the action and it is still inconclusive. It looks like it is tipped so I then began tryingto decide if the balls trajectory changes after what looks like a tip and if it does is this what causes the pass to be slightly behind the reciever? It's inconclusive. The safety did make contact just after the ball passes #8 and to quickly for it to be an adjustment by the safety but it is clearly contact as a result of Vocke adjusting to the ball and even then it is contact that is pretty close. I don't think it is impossible to get a flag here but it is usually likely not too. My biggest gripe was the call at the .35 second mark. The ball carrier goes down inbounce near the Bwood sideline and carries out of bounce and the officials rule he was out of bounce. It was not even close and it allowed Bw alot more time. The ball carrier does sling the ball out but its after he is on the ground inbounce. Had that play been ruled in bounce then Im not sure we even have the last play no call. Neverless, both teams had numerous chances to win the game, just as the Bw coach noted after the game. Mf was fortunate just as Bw was unfortunate. It just so happens that way sometimes

By the way the ball does slightly flutter after it passes #8 but it also did so a little a couple of times before it got to #8

It doesn't matter what was going on. This has nothing to do with whether the receiver was going back for the ball or not. The defender has his arm wrapped around him. If 8 did tip it (I don't think he did) there's no way that #47 wasn't wrapped around him before it. Also, the refs called it incomplete and they did not signal a "Tipped" ball. The side judge had to have a similar angle to the photographer on this.

Reread my posts, I called it just as it happened on #47.
