2006-2007 When #2 Michigan lost to #1 Ohio State at the Shoe in the season finally. Then Florida trounces the Buckeyes 41-14 in the Championship game, preceded by USC drubbing Michigan 32-18 in the Rose Bowl.

LSU will take care of business again and this will all be for nothing. Doesn't matter who they play.

I remember when this was made loud and clear when the Big Ten had 2 teams that could have played in it, and the nation(ESPN)went off over this.

 

Funny how it has changed now that 2 SEC teams are in the running.

 

I don't really remember there being too much uproar over this, other than everyone knew OSU and Michigan weren't the two best teams in the country.

 

The entire arguement is absurd. If this is the case, elminate all wild card teams in pro sports as well. Someone tell the Cardinals to give back the world series trophy, and by the way the NCAA basketball tournament just got a lot smaller....

Agreed, SEC has proven for years now they can often field at least 3 bcs teams in most years.

I remember a lot of discussion, mainly over the top teams having already played and the argument if a rematch was warranted or not. There have already been two teams that have played for a BCS title that did not win their conference so that point really does not hold much water.

Use Virginia Tech and Clemson. Wisconsin and Michigan State are both BCS bowl worthy. No one from the ACC should be allowed in the BCS bowls. Or the Big East. The SEC has 4-5 BCS worthy teams IMO.

If they were truly taking the most deserving/worthy teams, the 10 BCS teams would be:

 

LSU

Alabama

Arkansas

Virginia Tech

Oklahoma State

Stanford

Michigan State

South Carolina

Georgia

Houston (they're undefeated, so they at least deserve inclusion)

I think the argument was "No Way Should a Team That Can't Win The Big Ten Conference Play in the BCS Championship". As it turned out after the drumming both OSU and Michigan took we were right.

 

Try making an actual argument next time.

It's funny how it's cool and exciting when a basketball team makes a run in the NCAA after a less than stellar conference season (See UK and UConn '10-'11 season). That can be enjoyed b/c those teams earned it through a run in a TOURNAMENT. However, in college football, if you don't win your conference, you don't earn that same chance. I find it ridiculous that a team that loses one game in November isn't good enough to be considered a national title contender, but a team with a loss in September was sitting pretty last week. On top of all of this, we never get the best National Championship game b/c teams have to wait a month to play. Oregon vs Auburn last year should have been a more exciting, fast paced game, but the month layoff really killed their timing. The whole thing is a joke. It's like taking a season of Seinfeld (or whatever your show is) giving it a month b/n the last two episodes, and then trying to catch up. It may be ok, but it isn't the same.

I can roll with that list. I'd sub in Wisconsin for South Carolina since Lattimore is hurt and I don't think they are as good without him. Plus I am biased.
