You might get the Ark....but Dale is already head over heels on Josh! Look for him to get SIGNIFICANT time for the 'Birds in their quest to regain the state lead in state titles!! Why did Ark play Frosh FB and not for the mighty NKFL FF ???

Uh I have no clue really. I dont know a whole lot bout the kid really. But I doubt playing in the NKYFL would have helped him any as he was real good on the freshman level. Plus im not sure but he might have been to old to play in the NKYFL anyway.

Anyone have any scores from the HC Frosh tourney?? I heard HC and HHS were in the finals and Newcath was playing someone in the game prior. I'm interested in how the Head Director's adoption list panned out against each other!

Ever Since Holy Cross moved Freshman Brandon Housley down to the freshman team they have been unbeatable. On tuesday night they beat NCC by about 15, then last night in the finals of the tourney they beat highlands by between 15 or 20. It was never even a game, HC opend the game up with an 8-0 run. HC freshman class is deep, if you consider the best freshman is on varsity.

Interesting about this Brewer Kid..but some of you may need to make a trip out to Ockerman Middle School and watch their 6"6 8th grader play. He could play varsity and contribute right now for anyone. He should and could start varsity for Boone Co. The future looks bright for Boone out there. With Farris a Sophmore Mcfarland a Freshman and then this big kid right behind them smells like a regional contender down the road. Gray Middle school has Two 6"3 eighth graders also who are very good. The best over all class however will be Turkeyfoot/ Dixie's next years incoming class....

 

The big kid from Ockerman (Earls) is 6'5" and is the best big eighth-grader in Northern Kentucky. He could start varsity for Boone now. Ockerman also has the best three-point eighth-grade shooter in the region and state in Flannery. He has won two national three-point shooting competitions in the past year in AAU ball and owns an AAU state three-point shooting record. Ockerman's point guard, Popp, is one of the best point guards in Northern Kentucky and the state and has won every matchup this year so far. All three also play for the Kentucky Patriots AAU team that has won the KY state championship the last two years and placed 3rd at the YBOA national tournament. In my opinion, they are the best incoming high school class in Northern Kentucky. Add Gabbard from RA Jones to the mix, and Boone has a very strong incoming class. The 2009 and 2010 class from Boone together could be very strong in a few years. The 8th grade Boone County Rebels AAU team defeated the Turkeyfoot AAU team by 17 a couple weeks ago and defeated the Ryle AAU team by 3. Both Gray and Ockerman also defeated the Ryle 9th grade team in scrimmages this season.

 

Turkeyfoot and Gray also have good 2010 teams. Ockerman, Gray, and Ryle have been pretty even the last few years, with each team splitting their games with each other. Ockerman also defeated Virgie and Sebastian Middle School this year by 10+ to 20 points. Both of those teams won state championship tournaments in middle school ball last year.

 

Brewer is a good complete player. But he is 5'11", not 6'1". I am 6'0", and he is a little shorter than me when I stand next to him. I don't expect him to grow much more, and he hasn't grown much the last year or so. Brewer is strong, but Earls is good enough to check Brewer inside, and Popp is quick enough to play with him on the perimeter. These boys have all played against each other in AAU ball for several years.

For the record, many kids, myself included, graduate before they turn 18. Talk about a man among boys. The extra two years may help his athlticism.

I,m not sure if Ark can play all 4 yrs. Correct me if i,m wrong but i don' think you can play if you are 19 before your sport starts

According to the KHSAA:

Bylaw 3. Age

A student who becomes nineteen (19) years old before

August 1 shall be ineligible for interscholastic athletic

competition. A student who becomes nineteen (19) on or

after August 1 shall remain eligible for the entire school

year. The Board of Control and the Commissioner may not

adopt administrative procedures that allow for waiver of

this rule under any condition.

These Ockerman players have consistently played and done very well against the best AAU teams in the nation. Last year, their KY Patriots AAU team almost won the D2 AAU 8th grade state tournament as 7th graders, falling to Lexington Catholic 8th grade team by a basket in overtime. The Boone Rebels 8th grade AAU team just defeated the Blue Aces last week, and have never lost to the Blue Aces, which contain kids from St. Joseph and kids that will attend Covington Catholic. Nobody knows for sure. Only time will tell :-)

Hey bballfanky, Grey and Turkeyfoot do have nice 8th grade teams but I don't think that their great. Highlands 8th grade beat Turkeyfoot and only lost by 2 pts to Grey during Grey's Holiday Tourn. HMS had a player just returning from a elbow injury and a few kids under the weather during this Tournament. The majority of these kids at HMS played on the NKY Jazz and this group did quite well against the Patriots. So I don't think you should crown Boone Co. region champs just yet!

I remember when "Herkey" White played a lot of Varsity as an 8th grader for Newport High. The thought of "Ark" reminds me a lot of "Herkey." Eventually White moved to Cincy to play for Winton Woods and now he is a senior at Taft.
