But he is playing for the DCB this year, because the LYJ's coach went to the high school level.

If he's not the best freshman in NKY in the region. Email me and I come out!!!

Just curious but why not basketball.?

My younger brother and him had been teammates since 3rd grade. My brother tried out and Alex decided not to. Never heard a reason. My brother and Alex were starting guards for HC last year freshman squad.

This kid is not the best freshman player. I don't know all of them right now. But I'll take the Giwa kid for HC who is getting varsity minutes on a top 5 regional team this year.

Thanks BigStud,

Who are some of the best Freshman players from the 9th Region? So far we have:

Arkansas Brewer-Newport

Josh Connor-Highlands

Justin Jones-New Cath

Brandon Housley-Holy Cross

Giwa -Holy Cross

I would have to say scott Co and toyota work along those lines you were talking about earlier.

I would have to say that Brewer is the best , he's the full package. He can shoot(jump shots, or three pointers), post up, drive and dribble, and make nice passes, and he is a real physical player box out, rebound, and block shots. The real deal The "ARK".

Housley may not even be the 2nd best freshman in the HC class. HC freshman class this year is very good. Ryan Stewart is the freshman team leading scorer to date I believe.

But in my mind until proven otherwise, it has to be Giwa. Giwa is making impact plays on the varsity level. Giwa's steal on Keener from Dixie and layup following the steal was a crucial play late in the game the other night.

Man, if their that good they could beat some high schools!!!

? Where did I say that? But I don't think the freshman team will lose many games this year.

Giwa is not even the best frosh PG in NKY. His offensive game is too limited. That may change but as of today he's second to Shover.

Shover the CCH kid?

All I know is I'll take Giwa any day of the week. I've said this on this sight for the last 3 years. When this kid reached High School he would be on of the most athletic players at HC in a very long time. The kid just does things you can't teach and things he does need to work on can be taught. I don't think there is a freshman PG in the 9th he can't shut down.

Anyone seen much Freshman Basketball this season? Well if you want to see probably the best player in the 9th Region, go watch the Newport Wildcats 6'1'' 185lb. 8th grader, Arkansas Brewer. He is really an outstanding athlete, he plays Guard/Forward, "ARK" as his peers call him, can shoot the three pointer like its a normal jump shot, plus post up and drive and dribble with the best of them. He's averaging 19 pts,9 rebounds,5 assist a game, he is really talented and is super youngman, on and off the Basketball court. Brewer plays AAU for the Louisville Yellow Jackets and is ranked one of the top 25 8th graders in the state of Kentucky. (Good Luck "ARK", and keep the good work up!!!)

not bad numbers for a 16 year old 8th grader!

Does anyone know what happen to the Steve Helmer standout from Ludlow? He did'nt play last night, I was wondering is he playing varsity or did he move out of the district.

i think big zig told me his family moved to union and he goes to ryle.

Thanks for your insight laniganfan29, But, for the record Arkansas Brewer just turned 15 years old and he will be eligible to play all his high school years. You should wish the youngman good luck, he's a great athlete.
