You should see three very good players that play for ockerman middle school.Andy Earls, Ryan Popp, and Austin Flannery are all outstanding players. Andy is 6'5" and can shoot mid range jump shots very well and finishes and rebound verywell also. Ryan Popp is a very quick 5'7" point guard that can shoot the mid range and take u to the hole. Austin Flannery is the purest shooter in ky, he has won 3 point contests at adidas midwest elite camp, YBOA nationals and many more camps. They all play for the Kentucky Patriots who won D1 state and placed 15th nationally.

Austin Flannery, Ryan Popp, Andy Earls, Mikey Gabbard, and Cody Thamann beat Ryle freshman in a scrimmage game by at least 30 somthin points.

The best freshman in KY resides in McCreary county.His name is Arron Watts,This kid will be one of if not the best player to come out of KY.That is if he keeps improving.The one thing that will hurt him is being at McCreary Central,not that theres anything wrong with MC but there is no exposer down there.I mean look at there record this year compared to last year.This year there 9-3 and have won 6 straight and last year they only won 4 games and 2 of those were by forfeit and had no winning streaks.There is no way 1 kid should make this big of a difference but he has.If he was on a big name school he would be considered the next O.J Mayo.If McCreary Central comes close to your town you should absolutely go watch this kid.

I watched Scott's AAU team knock off the "great" Rockets in Lexington in the State AAU tournament. I believe the Rockets were a combination of St.Pius and Blessed Sacrament. These were all good players and teams. There is no reason to implicate that the public schools were either afraid to play the parochials, or that they did not measure up. I recall that several of the local teams played both AAU and Southwestern Ohio League. However, you probably don't remember most of them because Ralph had the Rockets play up, as did Fast Break with their blue chip recruits (aka Pat Elliot).

 

As noted about previous 8th grade phenoms, it's a shame that the Rocket's best player, Brett Sutton, doesn't play anymore. He was the real deal.

 

BGGreen... Do you know why the publics and parochials don't play each other in middle school? I don't get it, and I've always wondered why they aren't able to mix their schedules more like the Frosh.

Many in central KY have seen this kid in the past. He played for the Capital City Mustangs AAU team in 4th and 5th grade. They won the state in 4th grade and were runner up to the Louisville Yellow Jackets in the 5th grade. I know that was a few years ago, before he moved to McCreary Co. How much has Aaron grown? He was a stocky kid that had inside and outside game, always gave maximum effort,and had a good attitude. I believe he is living wiith foster parents. Hope the best for Aaron. Please keep me updated on his progress. He is the real deal!!!!!!

I looked at McCreary Centrals site on KHSAA.

They show in their stats Aaron Watts as shooting 67 of 132 thru 12 games.

Thats around 51% and at least 11 ppg. (that is only going on all of these being 2pt shots and no foul shots included)

For a freshman those are great varsity stats. Way to go.

I get tired of hearing how good players are coming of of BC middle schools. I've heard that since a very young age. They don't play against the catholic school teams for one, and they don't play much of the inner city schools either. They mostly beat up on other Boone County schools.

Virgie beat Ockerman by 12 and around the 2 minute mark Ockerman was only down by 8.

Ockerman had a hard time matching up with all of Virgie's big men. Actually, earlier this season when Virgie was missing one of their big men due to an injury, Ockerman beat them by 18. However, Virgie does have an outstanding team. Congratulations to the Pike Co. boys

Looks like the Newport Middle School Team had a little revenge Tuesday night at the Cat's Den. The Wildcats beat the Highlands Bluebirds one of the top Middle School teams in N.Ky. It was a great game 52-49, Arkansas Brewer had 28 and Brandon Tucker had 19 for the Cats, an amazing stat between these 2 athletes was they made 13 straight freethrows in a row, for the win! Some of the players for the Bluebirds was Zach Lother, Austin Collingsworth, George Grote and Sharp Shooter Steve Kowolonek (5 three pointers). Good Luck both teams the rest of the season!!!
