November 11, 201114 yr Sure, post 281. I read that as his statment being enough that we don't have to wait for all the facts to come out. In other words, closing the book on everyone. I'm challenging if that one statement would be enough not to wait for a complete investigation, even one 13 years too late. Oh, I answered that once but I don't think it was a very good answer... It's enough for everyone to be fired. It is NOT enough to convict anyone of a crime. 1 - Sandusky should've been let go AND been told he can not associate himself with anything Penn State. 2 - Because this didn't happen, Paterno, the AD, the VP, and whomever else who was in charge should've been or should be fired. I didn't mean quilty in a court of law because of that statement but it certainly would make me cautious.

November 11, 201114 yr ^Seeing as he hasn't been charged of anything, and according to you and others, hasn't done anything wrong, why does he need one? I would have gotten one as soon as the news broke about Sandusky, no matter if I had anything to worry about or not.

I agree with a lot of what he says, though not everything. But, it's a fair minded take on an issue that hasn't lent itself to many fair minded assessments.

And I agree with it. And many of the points are points I've been trying to make with my posts.
November 12, 201114 yr IMO, it's less worry of "If I support Paterno I'll be perceived as one who believes molesting children is okay" and more about, "Well, I've heard all of these good things publically but what is he REALLY like." At least for me it is. You never know how someone truly is. We have hundreds of examples of guys we thought were squeaky clean, only to find out that this is not true at all. While Paterno has obviously touched many lives and seems to be a wonderful person, we're talking about some of the worst acts imaginable performed under his tenure. Like it or not, that changes public perception. Additionally, I really feel for Paterno. I'm sure he assumed that his superiors, who he informed about Sandusky, would take care of the situation and everything would work out. Unfortunately, it didn't and his buddy Sandusky has created one of the worst sports scandals in my lifetime. Quite frankly, give me dog fighting any day.

I know I will now read it where I wouldn't have given it a second glance before. It would have to delay it though in order to cover this scandal completely to the end.

I'm sure his book was going to be a lot different than it will now
November 12, 201114 yr From his article it sounded like he planned a lot more to go into it now. Of course he will now be competing with any other books and all the media coverage that will be generated.
