Someone said earlier in the thread that Borchers was out of the running. So if he is one of the 4 that interviewed and is out, then Dixie is down to three.

I have heard that it is Dave Brossart, an assistant from Lexington Catholic, an assistant from Middletown and the former head coach at Edgewood HS. Borchers did interview but withdrew shortly after the interviews.

I agree with goford that Dave Brossart would be a great hire for Dixie. Steve Channel is an interesting name in this discussion. He has retired in Ohio and could double dip in Kentucky. It was not that long ago that he had Edgewood in the Division II State Finals. He would also be a good hire.

Channel is interesting. He had a lot of success at Edgewood.

Channel ran Wing T, how will Dixie's parents and fan base accept that offense. Doesn't seem to fit that community

Who cares what the community thanks or wants they have had nothing the last several years. He would be a great improvement, what the community and parents may not like is the commitment that a new coach will be expecting from there kids!!

They haven't had the personnel to run a wing T over the past few years. Now, I have no clue what they have for next year.

Correct, though the offense if officially classified as run and shoot. Also, NewCath runs a lot of other formations besides the Wing T (spread looks, single back w/ no wings). I believe that Channel and Edgewood were pure Wing-T. It will do a lot to keep their defense off of the field as much, which over the past few years would be a good thing. They won't have to stay on the field as there will be less 3 and outs and the clock will run.

Why wouldn't Dixie go after a Trinity coach? That is the first place I would have looked for a coach.

Don't worry what jolmstead thinks. After reviewing jolmstead's 7 posts to date, it's obvious to me he has a burr up his fanny toward some private schools and some public schools that have had success.

Thank goodness that some coaches at programs don't attribute Highlands', Beechwood's, Trinity's and other programs' success to just accepting players from outside their district. Fortunately, coaches like Warner at Ryle and others have decided there are other reasons for that success and have made changes to their programs to copy what the successful programs do, like transitioning their off season program to one similar to Highlands and changing their youth feeder league to something similar to that being done in Ft. Thomas. Those coaches get it; I don't think jolmstead does.

I agree.

It gets a little old for some programs to blame other programs for "poaching" player when wins come from the hard work in the off season.

Highland's has 80 kid at winter weights and CovCath has 76 showing up for 6 am workouts.
