November 9, 201114 yr Not a huge surprise despite his dad's comments last week saying Zeke would finish the year at Dixie. http://auburn.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1290929 Dixie Heights quarterback and Rivals250 member Zeke Pike took an impromptu visit to Auburn last week. The four-star prospect, his father Mark, and his younger brother arrived on the Plains Thursday evening and stayed until Friday night. "We had a fall break and it was a good time to go down," said Pike. The big news for Pike, and the Auburn staff, is that the U.S. Army All-American signal caller has decided to enroll early in college after a meeting with high school officials and his parents on Monday. Pike will forgo his last fall trimester and spring at Dixie Heights High School and arrive at Auburn in January. "We met with the principal (Monday) morning, so I'm coming to Auburn in January, 100 percent," said Pike. "The coaches are stoked I'm coming in January. They feel like it's in the best interest for me. To be able to get down there and get a head start is the best option for me." Pike will begin taking three online courses next week and expects to arrive in Auburn for the start of the spring semester.

Based on everything that has gone on this past few weeks, this is probably a wise move for everyone involved. It does change the basketball landscape in NKY that's for sure.

November 9, 201114 yr I would say this is certainly a blow to Dixies chances at a state title in basketball. Not surprised at all though, and like someone else said it sounds as though he's leaving to get away from problems, sad.

November 9, 201114 yr This young man has yet another chance to "get it right" and I hope he does. I have to believe he is on a very short leash at Auburn. His athletic abilities have put him in a great position to earn a sound education and prepare him for the future. If he screws this up then he is robbing someone out there that is not getting the chance he is. If you think the microscope on college athletics was intense before then what has transpired at Penn State has kicked up the scrutiny exponentially. That goes for the student athlete as well as the administration. Keep it clean Zeke and make NKY proud. People are waiting for you to screw up again. Only you can start to exonerate the bad memories.
November 9, 201114 yr Don't cry for Dixie Basketball just yet. This may be the key to go all the way in the State Tournament. Seems like we just keep running from our past with this situation though. I hope this is the end and Mr. Pike does finally achieve his potential. He is truly in control of his destiny now, so let's wish him all the best and see what happens next.

November 9, 201114 yr Definitely the best thing for this young man. Get out of Northern Kentucky and into a new environment and start anew. Hopefully he gets his head straight, and succeeds at Auburn.
