I saw that the O's will be sporting the old style smiling bird full time in 2012.

Sounds like the Reds are close to locking up Phillips for awhile.

@Buster_ESPN: "Reds are said to be talking about a lot of trade possibilities... Offering a whole range of players."

Also sounds like they're discussing Josh Willingham. Wouldn't be a terrible LF option, but would assume that signing him would mean a trade of Alonso and some others for a #1 pitcher.

Where did you see this?

^From the way Jocketty has been talking, it sounds like all that's left is structuring it properly...Sounds like a chunk of deferred money will be involved.

There was a blurb somewhere, I believe on MLB Trade Rumors, that several GMs viewed Alonso as "a one-dimensional player" that wouldn't rate a huge return like a #1 starter.

For the Reds, what else would it take?

Who has said Alonso alone would bring back a #1?

I would think they'll try to package him and someone like Volquez and/or Bailey...:idunno:

What #1 starter are you getting with that package?
What #1 starter are you getting with that package?

More importantly, name ANY #1 starters that are on the trade block? Besides, the Reds do not have the players to trade for a true #1 unless they include Chapman or Mesoraco in the deal. Spare parts and #3 starters don't land a #1.

Fair question ...

Jair Jurrjens

Gio Gonzalez

James Shields

Well obviously there would need to be more than just that, but that would be a good starting point....
