November 7, 201114 yr So if Oregon wins out and passes Bama/Boise/OK/OK St. to make it to the NC, they have to win by 14 over LSU to be considered the "true" Champ? No, if Oregon and Stanford were both undefeated and were 1-2 in the polls I doubt the loser would get much support for a rematch in the title game. Basically if the two teams in the debate for a rematch were in any other conference other than the SEC there wouldn’t be much of a debate IMO.

November 7, 201114 yr So what happens if Oregon wins out and plays LSU for the title then? The powers that be will see to it that they won't play again. Watch and see.
November 7, 201114 yr So what happens if Oregon wins out and plays LSU for the title then? With either Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, or Boise St winning out it not going to happen.
November 8, 201114 yr I've always heard that the ball goes to the offense in a tie, but they don't always seem to call it that way. I'm pretty sure that same play happened in the UK/LSU game with UK on defense and it was ruled a completion for LSU. I'm pretty sure a UK DB went up and took it away as they landed and they gave LSU a reception. The problem I have is how can you rule it a completed pass if the guy doesn't possess it all the way through. He goes up, gets his hands on it, and then as soon as they land the defender gets the ball. That's a tough call to make. By the letter of the law, I can see some complaint, but in reality, I think it should be a pick. The rule states they have to maintain possession through the process of coming down/falling, so why shouldn't that apply in this case as well? And, it cannot be an incompletion. I agree with you Larry. I think Alabama should have punted and pinned LSU deep. Alabama made some mistakes that you don't expect from a Saban-coached team.Putting Maze out to return the punt cost them 30 yards of field position. The decision to repeatedly attempt long FG's instead of playing field position was questionable, IMO. And, the OT was just a disaster. Not a single run to Trent Richardson, a 12 men in the huddle penalty and then the QB takes a sack. I seriously question the decision to come out throwing in OT in game where no TD's had been scored in 60 minutes. I have to admit that the OT finish was very disappointing. I feel like Alabama gave the game away in one series after the two teams had went toe-to-toe for 60 minutes. Of course, that could be viewed as a microcosm of the game itself. LSU stuck with the conservative plan and capitalized on its opportunities. 'Bama was more aggressive, but ultimately wasted multiple chances to put more points on the board. To be clear, I won't be upset by a rematch. How could anyone not enjoy watching them play again? I would just prefer to see something else. Obviously, the college system is flawed, but if Alabama wins a rematch, it makes the champion even more questionable, IMO. As to the bolded if you refer to the prediction thread I did actually expect Saban to outcoach himself. Can't do that against the Mad Hatter.
November 8, 201114 yr So what happens if Oregon wins out and plays LSU for the title then? What would be the problem with that? Who had a "better" loss than them this year? I don't see it. 1st game of the year basically @ LSU.
November 8, 201114 yr Author What would be the problem with that? Who had a "better" loss than them this year? I don't see it. 1st game of the year basically @ LSU. I believe that game was played @ Cowboys Stadium, not LSU...plus I wouldn't consider a 2 TD loss in Regulation better than a 3 point loss in OT. It could have been a 3 TD loss, but the Ducks scored a TD in garbage time (0:19 4th Quarter).

Ducks are much better right now.

November 8, 201114 yr Yep PP92.... I'll post the picture of the catch/interception later, the replay offical doesn't get this type of look, but it shows our guy with both hands on the ball compared to Reid's one. he didn't call it wrong on purpose, he is human and we accept that, so if we win out and one of the three lose, we should be in the top two. In 1990 we played the Canes and lost by eight for the NC. There were three fumbles by the Canes that were bad calls, they were showed on replay and the Nionday Nite Football team was the announcers, each one really hurt us as these guys all said there were some bad calls. No replay back then, but oh well. Sometimes life just isn't fair, I hated seeing this photo...
November 8, 201114 yr So you're saying even though everyone thinks they're 1 and 2 you don't want them to play for the big trophy. I can't wrap my head around the top 2 teams not playing in the championship. Question: Should Stanford or Oklahoma State, if they finish undefeated, play LSU in the title game? And, if so, why?
