LSU 9 Alabama 6 (OT)

What if we were talking about Oregon and Stanford or Oklahoma and Oklahoma State at 1 and 2? If the scenario were reversed and it was two teams from a conference other than the SEC, I believe most would say no way they get a rematch. Revisit the 2006 “Who will Ohio State play” thread and most wanted Florida, actually 83% did. A lot of people also thought an OSU win was almost guaranteed against Florida and we all know how that turned out. Alabama controlled their own destiny and lost much like Michigan in 06. If they do play again and Alabama wins by 3 maybe they should be co-champs?

So if Oregon wins out and passes Bama/Boise/OK/OK St. to make it to the NC, they have to win by 14 over LSU to be considered the "true" Champ?

The only non-UK, or Notre Dame college game I've watched from beginning to end this season and I was extremely pleased with the game. Very entertaining (I love defensive struggles in football in most situations), and highly dramatic. I know the field goals for Alabama were bad, but it was a home game and I thought LSU deserved the win. They stepped up and did what they had to do in order to escape with the win.

Even if you think they would beat the other contenders?

Doesn't matter what I think....Alabama had their chance and at home. Now Alabama has to not lose again and have many other teams falter to even be in consideration in my opinion. (If not, just cancel the rest of the regular season and say it will be LSU and 'Bama in the championship game.)

Let's say at year end the polls have LSU and Bama 1 and 2. Put them in the BCS championship?

Not for me. They both reside in the same division of the SEC. That diminishes the SEC championship game in my opinion. Wackier things have happened, and I wouldn't rule out a Tiger loss. But if your scenario were to occur-LSU plays in the Allstate Championship game in New Orleans. Alabama may play in the same building at an earlier date in the Sugar Bowl.

Funny thing...UC is looking good for one of the big bowls right now. To me, you can't break the mold just because the recipe didn't turn out like you had hoped.

Yes, I would think so.

So you're saying even though everyone thinks they're 1 and 2 you don't want them to play for the big trophy. I can't wrap my head around the top 2 teams not playing in the championship.

See Trinity and Highlands in KY high school football....don't play in the postseason. Won't play in the regular season. Do play in scrimmage.

We have already seen this game at the collegiate level. I would be schocked if they play again during this football season. Too many other choices.

However, there isn't a system in place where it's even possible for T and HHS to play.

Regardless of which schools are 1 and 2 I want the championship game to have 1 and 2.

The high school teams could play in the regular season. The college teams already played. The team with the home field advantage lost. They are done. Just because they have great fan support doesn't mean they are #1 or #2. Arkansas ain't bad. Boise State deserves their due. Oklahoma State is still worthy.

^Why does Boise deserve anything?

They've played one team that could even be considered above average. That warrants a shot at a national title?

We're not responding to the same question. Simple question:

Should the BCS championship game have the #1 and #2 teams in it? Do not read any more into it than the words in the question.

Only if they are not in the same conference. Especially in the same division of the same conference. That is inherently unfair.

I would love a playoff, but these are the rules the guys set up-so now they have to live with them.

If we use that qualifier (and there are many that agree with you) then it cannot be called a National Championship game.

Where in these rules does it say that two teams can't play from the same division or same conference in the BCS title game?
