St. X is going to do the same thing in the playoffs to Trinity.....So do they belong there over someone else?

Not sure what you mean here plainspoken... if you are asking me if I think X should be on the other side of the bracket, then I'd say if the goal is to have the best teams compete , as the tournament moves on, then- yes. But we all know that is not the goal.

Nope ... that format was changed sometime in the 1980s, I think.

 

The rotation was instituted just a few years ago.

 

The State-wide vs. Jefferson changed in 1987. At the time all the Jefferson publics were 4A. This would not work so well now with the mix of classes in Jefferson.

 

I had heard the change was due to the feeling out in the state that it was not fair that "Jefferson County automatically got a bid into the finals." And in the first year that seemed to be validated - in 1987 Shelby County defeated Boone County. But there has only been one other year with two 'state-wide' teams. In 1996 Nelson County defeated Paul Dunbar (Lexington) in the only other final that did not include a Jefferson County school. Also, interestingly, there only 2 all-Jefferson finals prior to 2000 - 1988 and 1997. In both cases the season following the 'all state-wide' finals. But in 2000 the Jefferson schools became the usual finals. More specifically - T,X and M.

So is it a "conspiracy" that MLB has the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays in the same division to make sure 1 of them doesn't make the playoffs each year?

Seriously...this is why I lose more and more objectivity in trying to understand where other schools are coming from. There's no discussing the issues that Trinity faces, because people assign such negatives to them. You don't like Trinity. I get it. It's fine. But don't expect your comments about anything that has to do with Trinity to be considered credible and/or objective.

I think the playoff format should remain as is. My reason is simple. Not all districts are created equal. There have been instances where a third or fourth seed from a really tough district has advanced deep and even won a state championship. I'm not sure if that has happened in the new 6 class alignment, but it has happened. In a format where only the top two make it, they don't get that chance.

 

I suppose the counter argument is that it would make the regular season more important. But, I like it as is, first round blowouts and all.

In the end it doesn't matter much, but I just feel like the gerrymandered the district to try to make schools outside of Louisville happy.

More likely you'd insist it was flat and it was Bush's fault. :lol: Seriously though, I think RM was spot on, I've seen your posts and thoughts on Trinity.

I agree 100%, other JCPS said no to Trinity in playing them. Not one said lets do it. If Trinty stayed in the same district with E/B/S and needed Male and Manual to play them and they had the choice, Male would have played the Rocks, Manual would not have, even the JVs/frosh were not allowed to play the Rocks.

 

But the scores don't lie the Rocks beat us and Manual by huge numbers, and will it get better any time soon? Well we think so.
