You know the same thing happened in basket ball where you have 2 to 3 districts that are always loaded and every one else is in the also ran normally. Every once and a while you get the also ran wins a state championship. It looks like it would be simple schools close together get in the same district and when it comes to the playoffs you draw for what district you play against. To easy it makes it fair and every once and a while you have a good championship game.

While I don't disagree there is one issue. We only played 3 KY teams this year in the regular season. By putting X in the district with Trinity that took one state opponent off of our non-district schedule.

 

As PR mentioned, that has actually helped T this year and I think will help T in years to come. 8th graders trying to decide where to attend high school and play football, see T's schedule loaded with regional powerhouses and I think that's attractive to them. Furthermore I have to believe that games against Cincy X, Elder, Moeller, Cathedral, etc bring more gate money to Trinity (even after taking into affect the cost of traveling to those schools for the away games) than playing district games against some of the teams that used to be in the district. Anyone out there with financial knowledge of T's football season year to date that can back me up or indicate that I'm mistaken? If I am right, more money coming into the program will further improve T's program. If I as a northern Kentucky fan had any opposition to the Super District, it would be because I think it will help improve the quality of football played by teams in the Super District, thus making it harder for the N.Ky 6A teams to compete against them. I truly wish Highlands district included CovCath, Boyle and LexCath. Teams get better when they play tougher competiton year after year. By putting CovCath, Boyle and LexCath in the district, we'd be assured of playing them every year, just not those years when the schedules work out.

 

But again, I may be looking at this issue wrong.

But at the same time, this did give us the opportunity of a life time with our scheduling. We wouldn't be near where we are in the national rankings were it not for that.

 

But what happens when we don't have the talent we have this year?

 

Point 1. The national ranking is nice, that's all it is, it means nothing and quite frankly I could probably not care less about it. We could win every game we have left and still not win the mythical national championship. And not to be a jerk but I could really care less about what our national ranking does for football in Kentucky. Heaven knows 99.9% of the other teams in KY have tried to put every obstacle in our path to try to keep us from being successful. We only played 9 games this year for a reason.

 

Point 2. The schedule we have played this year has had a physical toll. Every team needs a step down in competition occasionally. Ours didn't come until week 1 of the playoffs. I'm not saying we should fill the schedule with Ballards or Senecas or Easterns but one or two of those calibre teams mixed among the St. Xs, Cathedrals or Moellers would have been nice.

There's no discussing the issues that Trinity faces, because people assign such negatives to them. You don't like Trinity. I get it. It's fine. But don't expect your comments about anything that has to do with Trinity to be considered credible and/or objective.

LN, I believe most teams (kids/players/coaches/fans) would like to play as long as they can, and if you are a Senior player its much more, so playing Trinity in the first or second round will end it...each week is so precious as you move on. Male last season with a first year coach had a decent season but did very well and surprised a lot of folks going to the 6A final game, they play Trinty in the first round...I kinda repeated myself there sorry.

My comments are entirely credible. They just don't fit the filter of the green-colored glasses that some wear.

 

My point is that Trinity is finally playing a schedule of regular games against schools much like itself ... big enrollments, private, etc. I realize it may be a relatively new experience for them, but this is what the Elders and Moellers of the world regularly face. Trinity has much more in common with those programs than they do the likes of Manual, Male, Ballard, etc.

 

I have a great deal of appreciation for what Trinity has accomplished this season, but don't ask anyone to feel sorry for them because they're finally playing a schedule of regular competition that is worthy of their program.

What would those be? T has it easier than 99.9% of the other teams in KY so spare me the pitty party. I applaud T for they have built but let's act like they had to overcome such adversity to get there.

Don't placate us. You purport to be objective but the fact is that you feel Trinity and X (in particular) play with advantages other schools don't have. You disregard the facts that much of what Trinity & X have, other schools COULD have, but for whatever reasons do not. You'll be satisfied and smug when Trinity and/or X are out of the KHSAA playing a national schedule. Then, and only then, will you respect them. No one wants anyone to feel sorry for us. There's nothing to feel sorry for. But there are facts that All Tell stated that are very true. If this were another team, you'd say nothing to belittle the poster or the school/program.

Who is saying we have it rough? But the fact is, the schedule was brutal from week 1-5 and it did take a physical toll. The redistricting definitely played a part in that. Another part was not having any in-state opponents available to play...for whatever reasons. It's a statement of fact, not whining. But I guess stating the facts to those unwilling to look at them is moaning.
