March 23, 201214 yr Thx Henry. I hadn't seen Spindoc's post. Sorry Spindoc. As Henry mentioned, I did hunt both of my Viszlas. Both did a fanastic job in the field. Long story behind why we ended up with a Brit instead of another Vizsla, but I won't bore you. The Brit, also named Remy like Lucky Charm's dog and also short for Remington, has turned out to be a wonderful dog both in the field and in the house. Not near as high strung as my Vizslas. I'm very pleased with the Brit breed. I've never owned a GSP but they are beautiful dogs and the one's I've hunted over in the field have done a great job. I'd love to hunt behind Vizslas one day just to see them work. I think they're beautiful. We still have about a month left to hunt on the preserve we quail and pheasant hunt on. But it's so stinikin' hot that we may be done. I'm not complaining about the weather, mind you.
January 2, 201412 yr Tossing around the puppy idea again. Sounds like the Labradoodles and Goldendoodles would be a good fit? Small or medium sized, probably. We have allergies in the house so must be hypoallergenic. One of mine is sensitive to loud noise so we need a dog with minimal barking--or I guess you train them to not bark? We are at a point where sometimes someone is left behind because they don't want to go to the basketball/soccer games, etc. So I'm liking the idea of not being totally alone by having a doggie companion.
January 2, 201412 yr Regardless of which dog you choose, be prepared to have some of the best times of your life when they become part of your family. Good luck! :thumb: This is what I'm hoping for. I think that one of my kids could really benefit from the routine, responsibility and sense of purpose that a dog would provide him----as well as unconditional acceptance.
January 2, 201412 yr Love my Goldendoodle. Doesn't bark except to alert of someone coming. I'd get a 2nd generation if hypo-allergenic is a must though. Also be prepared for an INSANELY smart dog that can figure out anything and needs a TON of attention, activity, and brain stimulation.
January 2, 201412 yr I've always wanted a Mastiff, Cane Corso, or Great Dane. Girlfriend and I have been toying with the idea a little. I have quite a bit of CC experience but not much with the other two. Does anyone? We are also open to any of the other large breed mastiff-type dogs. And the other option is to fall back to the retrievers or doodle hybrids.

Goldendoodles are awesome dogs. Probably in between a medium/large dog size. Very smart and great with people.

January 2, 201412 yr . Thanks to Henry & LN we just had to get one of Remi's brothers. Bird "Champ"ion is one lazy bum when he wants to be. According to my wife, the reason she picked Champ was because of the Heart shaped marking on his forehead.
