January 4, 201412 yr We had to put down our Chocolate Lab/Weimaraner mix on July 6. Heartbreaking. While I'm ready for another dog and the kids are BEGGING for one' date=' Hubby only wants his Chocoloate Moose back. Won't look at another breed. He adored that dog and it was mutual. He had so much personality! They are breeding them now, calling them Labaraners but I won't buy a dog from a breeder. Been volunteering at one shelter or another since I was 10 and my sons put in some hours in the summer at the one in Boone Co. We are all about the "mutts" and there's like no chance another Chocolate Moose is gonna come through the doors.[/quote'] When I lost my Lucky in late June, I lost a truly unique little guy. I wasn't going to get another dog for a while, but I met Buddy and he was in a desperate situation. He could NOT be any more different from Lucky. I am extraordinarily grateful for that. I still grieve for Lucky, and to this day there are places I can't bring myself to go or things I can't bring myself to do because they were "our" things....like hiking in Cherokee Park. I will cry just thinking about it. Your husband, I hope, isn't expecting to replicate his relationship with Moose in a new dog. That will be heartbreaking for both him and the dog. I just don't want either of them disappointed. Edited January 5, 201412 yr by True blue (and gold) Corrected Buddy's name
January 4, 201412 yr I tried to tell him that, his dad tried to tell him that (although I suspect HE was talking about wives, not dogs - LOL!!). It's so sad because we ALL miss the commotion and activity and begging and being forced off the couch in the middle of a movie.....I saw a dog today that really needs a safe place and I guess I'll have to use my womanly wiles (ha!) when I get home later. Happy for you and Buddy, Rockmom!! Edited January 5, 201412 yr by True blue (and gold)

You could always say it's a foster.
January 4, 201412 yr As part of the rescue network I am involved in, I get several emails daily with dogs that for many different reasons lost and need a home. I am always willing to share if someone is looking. Of course, it never hurts my feelings, if someone goes a different direction...I just like to get the info to more people.
January 5, 201412 yr Beautiful! Mine is somewhere between your fox and a true yellow lab. I have never seen the full fox red color before. Very rare indeed! Sister and brother in law got a Red Fox Lab about a year ago. Beautiful dog.
January 5, 201412 yr Get a pound puppy! We got both of our dogs through the humane society (Sorta) and both wouldn't be alive right now if we hadn't rescued them. They're both pretty awesome.
January 5, 201412 yr Here's another pic of "Gunner"... I've had several dogs in my life but this is by far the smartest, best tempered one I've ever had. The lab breed is second-to-none in my book... I've never seen a Fox Red Lab in person, but they are a beautiful dog as well...
January 5, 201412 yr Here's a pic of Henry' date=' my fox red when he was a pup. He was so red.[/quote'] Beautiful dog...
January 5, 201412 yr Beautiful dog... Thank you, he was a freebie dog. Neighbors prize duck dogs bread when he was on vacation so it wasn't intentional. :lol2: Smartest dog I've ever seen
January 5, 201412 yr I always feel bad for the dogs who's owners passed away This really hits close to home for me. When I was diagnosed with cancer last year, even though it came with an excellent prognosis, my biggest concern was what would happen to my Whimsy if I died. I can certainly understand those people that leave provisions and resources in their will for their pets.
January 6, 201412 yr Here's a pic of Henry, my fox red when he was a pup. He was so red. Good lookin' pooch. He tries to be patient with your Cubs too. What a trooper.
