True, but the Pavilion at Nova only seats 6500. Temple's Liacouras Center seats over 10K. From what I understand, all draw to capacity now.

You are making some big leaps here---where did I compare the talent levels of Houston and Lousiville as similar? Since in another thread you attributed Louisville's jump to Bush and Brohm, it seemed fair to ask if that's what is happening in Houston as "right now Houston is about where UL was when they made the jump."

 

So which is it? Did Louisville rise because of the "AQ Bump" or was it on the "back of the best two players to come out of KY in 25 years"? It seems that whichever one fits your particular argument is the one you are choosing. :sssh:

 

UL recruiting overall rose because of the BCS tag. They had to go out of state to do it for the most part, but the fact that it happened is beyond debate. Brohm and Bush were on board before the jump however, and that accelerated things and made them relevant right away as opposed to building up for a few years like UC had to do. Do you think USF would be winning recruiting battles against the Florida power programs in CUSA? If so you might need a mental exam.

 

Houston is in Texas. Louisville is in Kentucky. I think you can make that leap in terms of competing for in state talent becoming easier for Houston, SMU and USF in 2 of the top 3 talent producing state in the country with and without the AQ tag. Now do want to debate something relevant, or keep making yourself look bad while chasing your tail... :idunno:

You aren't saying much that I'm trying to debate here, nor anything that I've tried to debate. I'm acknowledging most of this and have from the get go. You haven't really touched on much of what I've said except for to twist and turn it how you please. From what I can tell you are still basing your argument around assumptions but now you are adding a past assumption to say Louisville would have gotten relevant without Bush or Brohm since it better fits your "AQ Bump" argument. When it fit a different argument in another thread then Louisville only got good because of Bush and Brohm but now it's something else. So who is chasing their tail here???

Not like this. The Pac-10 and Big 12 at least have some high profile programs and some big time rivalries, even the ACC has some teams with higher national profiles. The Big East is now just a mishmash of leftovers that the other conferences didn't want.

Point trying to make is other conferences only have a couple of teams that have Solid football programs. The rest are up and down.

 

Big 12 - Texas and OU are the main stays. Then OKla. State is steady. But everyone else is up and down

 

Pac 12 - USC after that everyone else is up and down.

 

ACC - Va. Tech and even they find away to not win the conference. I am a Big FSU fan and they haven't been legit in some time.

 

NEW BIG EAST - UL has been up and now down, UC has been up and down and on the way back up, Air Force and Navy have been averaging 7-9 wins the last 10 years. Boise over the last 10 years has been up.

 

I am not saying they are not a crappy league. I am just saying the rest of the leagues are not as tough either.

Funny how these things work out. TCU double-crosses the Big East to jump to the Big 12 but may actually have more trouble reaching a New Year's bowl game than USF.

 

And Missouri leapt from the Big 12 to the Southeastern Conference but could have a harder time getting an automatic bid than Big East targets UCF or SMU.

 

And..

 

... the BCS has never acknowledged there is a mechanism for stripping a conference of its bid.

 

And even if there are certain criteria involved, I would guess the Big East would have some legal issues regarding interference from other conferences as well as the possibility of undue influence from ESPN's behind-the-scenes maneuvering.

 

The BCS folks also have had a hard enough time over the years convincing Congress and the United States Attorney General's office that they were not engaging in antitrust violations. Taking an automatic bid away from the Big East might rekindle that fire.

 

(And isn't it convenient that congressional favorites Navy and Air Force are among the programs the Big East has reportedly invited this week?)

So, yes, it's probably a stretch to say the Big East is still deserving of an automatic BCS bid.

 

It's probably not fair that a weaker conference has the same advantages as the SEC or the Big Ten.

 

But this is college football we're talking about.

^ That article mentions BYU. Is there a significant discussion about that at this point? It would be nice to bring in a large western contingent all at once with Boise, BYU and Air Force if such a thing is possible.

 

For what its worth: I hate that division alignment in which Louisville is out west and Cincinnati is in the east. 1) I want to be in the same division as our best long-term conference rival and 2) having to be the only team east of the Mississippi in that division doesn't seem pleasant.
