October 26, 201114 yr I understand that this is more complicated than just asking somone to join a league, but how hard is it to put together a league with what is left? Big East East UC UConn UL Rutgers USF UCF Marshall West Air Force Boise St. Fresno St. Houston Memphis SMU Tulsa Not great, but not horrible.

October 26, 201114 yr No to UCF and Marshall. Schools that I think are better than those two for the Big East: - Memphis and Temple - I agree with Pitino. These are very good basketball schools that will grow in football like UC did in the Big East. You also would get the Philadelphia TV market with Temple. - Army and Navy - The military academies are excellent schools with large followings that will bring value on several levels to the Big East. Adding these two also might help keep Notre Dame in the Big East. Plus I think these two would help TV ratings because of the veterans of these service branches across the country that would support them.
October 27, 201114 yr The new Big East may lool like this........... 0 It would not suprise me to see the Big East completely fold/ not exist in football within a couple of years. JMO
October 28, 201114 yr Honestly, they should change the name of the conference. This ain't the Big East.
October 28, 201114 yr This is what I would like to see. It isn't and never will be able to compete with the SEC or Big 10. But can be just as good as the PAC 12 and Big 12. As a UL fan it is time to accept it. We have 2 more seasons as Automatic bid to the BCS. Hopefully the confernce can justify the bid. All I ask is they get a new Commish to run the league. East 1. Rutgers 2. UConn 3. USF 4. Temple 5. Navy - Better than Syracuse and Pitt 6. East Carolina - Better Syracuse 7. UC West 1. SMU 2. Memphis 3. Air Force - Better than Syracuse and Pitt 4. Boise state - Better than Syracuse and Pitt 5. Memphis 6. UL 7. Houston - Better than Syracuse.
October 28, 201114 yr Coach, there is no rational basis to think that league could compete with the Big 12.
October 28, 201114 yr With the news that the Big 12 is taking only WVU maybe the Big East can stay somewhat in tact now.
October 28, 201114 yr Coach, there is no rational basis to think that league could compete with the Big 12. Outside of Texas and Oklahoma everyone else in that league is average or below. Okla. State has improved and knocking on the door of OU and UT. But the Big 12 top to bottom is not the SEC or Big TEN
October 28, 201114 yr It'll be interesting to see where things go from here. Now that this has happened, I'd like to see the Big East make some really quick moves and bring teams in immediately.
October 28, 201114 yr With the news that the Big 12 is taking only WVU maybe the Big East can stay somewhat in tact now. Wont happen quickly the Commish is terrible. He needs to go.
October 28, 201114 yr The ramifications of this latest decision go way down the line. Tons of ADs out there have already formulated plans for the "if...." scenario. Big 12 only taking WVU now causes a lot of them to adjust.

If you have ever been remotely close to the Liberty Bowl for a Memphis football game, you would know they have ZERO chance of growing. Memphis basketball is big and that's it. Their football is so far behind the 8 ball that it would likely never catch up.
October 28, 201114 yr ^ At one point, I think the same probably could have been said for Louisville. What makes the Memphis situation different?
