GT needs to go read some more on Rivals, fans are not happy with WVA getting in and tomorrow on the shows they won't be very nice.

What in the world are you talking about. You implied that Pitino had more pull than the AD or President at UL. In that respect you are VERY wrong. His words had zero impact on the Big 12 taking WVU over UL, it was the TV money and Texas that made the call.

UL fans can be as delusional as they wish, but the reality is the best thing for them right now is to continue to rebuild the football program and win games while all of this plays out. They just won back to back league games for the first time since 2006. What about that screams they are ready to compete in the Big 12 at this point???

You didn't answer my question to make my point, but thats OK. I know what I know and what I heard. There is a post on Cardsports about what Rick said in the paper, and they still want to go to the Big 12 as I do too. Rick didn't help in that avenue. Also they are # 2 in the nation in points allowed, after eight games that SCREAMS very loudly.

To be fair I agree on the Texas and TV money, but my point is Rick. Now answer my question and we will go there.

What question? About Huggins? I did answer that... :thumb:

Let the new era begin...

Big East Invites Six

Invitations extended to SMU, Houston and Central Florida in all sports; Boise State, Navy and Air Force for football only.

Those are six pretty crappy members.

It's not great. It's what there is. There are five sharks swimming in the water, waiting to tear the remainder of this conference into tiny bits. Eventually you have to start throwing punches. Barring acts of terrorism... this is what's left.

So when do they revoke the BCS automatic spot?

^ There's a contract currently in effect. My understanding is that once it expires those AQ spots are re-evaluated. I want to say 2014.

Works for me. Let the new "War On I-4" begin! I can't wait. Finally, something to get excited about over this whole mess.

Starting in 2013 (I did not dream up the divisions names. They came from a USF board.) ...

Colonies

1. Rutgers

2. UConn

3. USF

4. Navy

5. UCF

6. (Temple or Memphis or Villanova)

7. Syracuse (thru the 2013-2014 season)

Frontier

1. Louisville

2. Cincinnati

3. Boise State

4. SMU

5. Air Force

6. Houston

7. Pittsburgh (thru the 2013-2014 season)

8. West Virginia (thru the 2013-2014 season)

You are correct. The AQ is in place through the 2013 season.

It's interesting. Can someone get me a Big East Conference Basketball Tournament bracket? That thing's got to be crazy. I'd assume that there are contingencies for inviting that seventh new addition to ensure a 12-team league if no additional Big East teams leave and assuming that the three that have already left get their buyouts in order. I guess that's where Temple/Memphis/Nova come in.

You are correct. The AQ is in place through the 2013 season.
Once the AQ is gone do they have to meet some kind of requirements or can the other 5 simply say sorry "you're out"?

I believe it's a calculation. Attendance, performance, etc. all incorporated into a formula and if the numbers don't work, then the AQ is gone. Then the lawsuits will begin.
