NKY Frosh Title game, how will it be decided?

Featured Replies

Dixie

Wins- Ryle, Conner, Cooper, CovCath, Campbell Co.,

Loss- Highlands

Games left- Simon Kenton, Ryle

Season started 8-25. If anything Dixie can drop last Ryle game as it was the added game. I suspect if Boone or HHS loose next week that they may do that.

Instead of Dixie playing Ryle for the second time and Boone playing Cooper, they play each other. There wouldn't even be a need for an additional game.

Cooper and Ryle could play each other ( for a second time ) so each team would still play a full schedule.

So did this info get forwarded to respectful coaches. Guru, does your though process change now since Boone lost to CCH. Because if the schedules stay they same, Boone would for sure beat Cooper and Dixie may win or lose. That would put Boone in the Championship game. And depending on what Dixie did, they would play either Dixie or HHS in the Championship. I don't think CCH has a chance but not sure. Really, it's up to the Boone/Dixie game getting rightfully scheduled.

Dixie - 1 loss with game scheduled versus Ryle, no game played versus Boone.

Boone - 2 losses ( 1 to CovCath)

CovCath - 2 losses ( 1 to HHS )

HHS - 2 losses ( 1 to Boone )

Ryle - 3 losses ( 1 to Dixie with another game scheduled versus Dixie , does the first game count? )

Will the schedules be adjusted to allow for a Boone/Dixie game? If not, is the first result of the 1st Dixie / Ryle not considered in the standings? Does Ryle then only have two losses and will then be playing Dixie for a shot at the championship game?

Most importantly, who makes any of these decisions?

You either set up your season officially to play towards a championship game or you let teams do what they want with schedules and have no championship game.

You can't have both.

At this point there is no way to justify leaving any of about 4 teams out.

Presently Dixie is 6-1 with one game left against Ryle. HHS is 6-2 with a bye next week. CovCath is 5-2 with a game against SK. Ryle is 5-2 with a game against Dixie. Boone is 5-2 with a game against Cooper.

If Dixie wins they are in as #1 seed. If CovCath and Boone win there is a 3 way tie for 2nd HHS, Boone, CovCath.

If Ryle wins there is a 5 way tie Boone, CovCath, HHS, Ryle, and Dixie.

Unless Cooper or SK win next week at least one team will be getting to the Championship via a tie breaker. What that is I do not know. Last year CovCath and Campbell played a game on Monday night to determine the 2nd seed. 5 years ago HHS, Covcath and Campbell county flipped coins to determine the 2nd seed.

It is my understanding games not on the "official" large school schedule do not count. Meaning the 1st Ryle v Dixie game does not count, nor does Boone's loss to Beechwood or Highlands game against Trinity or CovCath's game against Campbell County.

Give em all trophies LOL. All teams seem rather even which could be a great measuring stick 3 to 4 yes down the road to see who develops their talent and who doesn't.

Coin flip it is! Just got word but not sure who the flip is between though.

I would guess they have to wait for the outcome of next week's games before they can decide who gets to be in the coin flip. Maybe if there are two teams that get left out in the coin flip, then they can play each other as well.

Honestly, that is the worst way to lose out, or even win, on a chance to win a championship.

This has happened before, so why can't those in charge come up with some type of tie breaking rule.

I wouldn't want it to be the most points scored or the least points scored against, as that would stop teams from playing as many players as they could and would hurt the programs but a coin toss is a lousy way to break a tie and that is whether you win or lose it IMO!

Still is a puzzle to me how/why Dixie and Boone couldn't play each other!

I would say HHS, Boone Co, Dixie, CCH and Ryle are all about equal. What a mess!! There are going to be some unhappy teams when this all pans out..

I am lost too and I agree multiple coin flips don't sit well with me either.

This sounds crazy, but assuming Dixie beats Ryle I would probably crown them champs, I think that is the fairest way possible.

I agree if Dixie beats Ryle then give them the title, if not then call it even, because I've seen them all and think all are on same level, should keep this post to reflect four years from now

Since the camels are the only school out of the mix  I can be impartial so why not do this. Take the top 4 teams after next week and run semi final games on Monday and a championship on Thurs. night or Sat. night????????? PLay the semi finals as a DH at the number one seeds field and draw huge crowds!!!!!

I think there is a limit on the number of games that would prevent some of the teams from playing 2 playoff games.
