NKY Frosh Title game, how will it be decided?

Featured Replies

Heard a rumor, tell me what u think? Ncc is ineligible to a title game in small school division because a sophomore is playing down. New proposed playoff between Dixie, Boone, HHS, Beechwood? This has been proposed.

Is it safe to say that if Highlands beats Ryle they are definitely in the title game?

Can't see how. If nothing changes, the 3 1-loss teams will have to figure out who misses out. I like the suggestion above on finding a way to make sure Dixie and BC play as their 9th game so the winner could play HHS in the Frosh Championship (if Dixie won, at HHS; if BC won, at BC).

You are assuming that Boone beats CovCath, but I like the four team format.

also if Beechwood is going to be included then there games against the large schools should also count.

You mean for next yr.......................

Wont happen this yr, a team can't claim being a small school at the beginning of the yr and then when they win out want to play with the big dogs at the end because they think they have something to bring to the table. LOL.

Besides, when BW plays all of the Big Schools and earns it then they may claim a spot at the end if there is one to be had due to default. Not saying that the Beechies couldnt have done just so but you cant have your cake and eat it too...................:D

good one. I think it is because they have no one to play at the end of the year.

I believe the only tie breakers that are officially agreed upon in the Frosh is head to head competition. Last year CovCath and Campbell had a similar situation. Both teams finished 7 -1, with the loss to Highlands, but did not play each other in the regular season. Technically a coin toss was the method proposed to decide the tie. Both programs agreed to play a "play off" game on Monday night prior to the championship to decide the tie.

IF all 3 teams finish their big school records with just 1 loss, I believe Boone gets in because they do not have a loss to one of the other two. Then it would be Highlands because they beat Dixie. That is not official, but that is my understanding of the head to head rule for tie breakers.

^ I agree Dixie and Boone must play. Based on tour assessment Boone and HHS can win out and be in. I thought Boone backed out of the Dixie game because of schedules. Why should Dixie be left out because a game wasn't scheduled, not because of a loss. Do all freshmen programs play the same amt of games? Maxpreps only has some teams playing seven or eight games?

Why doesn't everybody and their dog male the playoffs like varsity does. (Sarcasm)

I agree that Beechwood playing in a four team playoff doesn't seem right. I just don't see how you can make that happen and I would agree that it isn't fair to the other big school teams. Beechwood only played two of the big schools this year. I would love to see it but I doubt it can or will happen. It sounds more like wishful thinking by Beechwood supporters. I see Beechwood playing NCC in a title game in the small school division. The sophomore played against Beechwood the first time so I don't think Beechwood cares if he plays again in the title game. I am like others above. The fairest thing seems to be have Dixie and Boone play each other to determine who gets to the title game.

kyvince posted this in the Ryle Cooper Frosh game thread:

I believe the 1st Dixie loss does not count. It is the 2nd Dixie game that counts. The first game was an added game. If they (i.e. Ryle) beat Highlands and Dixie, no matter what happens with Boone, Ryle, Dixie and Highlands will all have 2 losses, and would be in a 3 way tie. If CovCath beats Boone and SK, that would make it a 5 way tie, with who knows what type of tie breakers.

This freshman playoff picture is crazy. A lot of important games over the next couple of weeks. It should be a lot of fun.

If HHS's wins against Ryle they are in..

Could someone post the freshman school records for all the large school division teams (with clarification as necessary for records against other schools in the large school division or that otherwise do or do not count)? Also, how are decisions actually made for this group, conference or whatever you want to call it? Do the schools/coaches/ADs just make the decisions as they go along? It seems like the rules change every year and nobody actually knows what they are? I recognize it is only freshman football but it is worse than the NCAA football BCS conference situation (which is saying something) albeit without all that money involved.
