NKY Frosh Title game, how will it be decided?

Featured Replies

Since the camels are the only school out of the mix  I can be impartial so why not do this. Take the top 4 teams after next week and run semi final games on Monday and a championship on Thurs. night or Sat. night????????? PLay the semi finals as a DH at the number one seeds field and draw huge crowds!!!!!

the question here is the freshman limited to 10 games or are must they be finished before end of the varsity regular season final.

Play the semi's on Oct 24th and finals on Oct. 29th.

If it comes down to a coin flip, I say there should be no championship game at all.

As posted above, if Dixie is the only one loss team at the end of the season, they are the champs.

There was some discussion (emails) this weekend about the frosh standings, schedules, and the impact on the championship game.

Freshmen football decisions are made by the head coaches of the varsity teams. Any and all decisions, changes or resolutions will be made by the varsity coaches. A schedule change for this week (for Dixie to play Boone) was sent out, but was not agreed upon. The schedule for this week will be played as written for all schools. The coaches have their regular meeting this Wednesday. An agenda item to be added is the tiebreaker to use if there is a 3 way tie for second.

To answer a question earlier in the thread, a frosh team is limited to 10 games and they must be completed by the end of week 10 of the varsity season. There is no chance of a 4 team playoff with semi's and then a final.

At this point is Dixie the #1 seed?

Wow! This all makes sense now. But if Dixie loses this week to Ryle, doesn't it become a 5-way tie. And if Boone was to lose this week and Dixie win, there wouldn't be a need for a tie breaker correct?

Yes and Yes.

A 5 way tie would probably mean there would be no championship game.

Boone loss and Dixie win would put HHS in the champ game due to their head-to-head win over CovCath.

Any new information on this situation?

I think the computers overheated calculating all the possibilities.

Does Boone County play Cooper (frosh) this week? If so, where is the game played? What are Cooper's chances against Boone County?

Also, where is the Dixie/Ryle frosh game played at this week?

Slim and none..

Agree, none. If Dixie wins its Boone -Dixie. If ryle wins its Boone -Ryle. (If they have one). GO COLONELS

How do you get Boone or Ryle in the finals.

Here are the potential ways that this can shake out.

1. If Ryle defeats Dixie, there will be 5 teams with 2 losses (Ryle, Boone, Highlands, CovCath and Dixie). Good luck separating out that mess.

2. If Dixie defeats Ryle then they are eliminated from contention. Dixie would have 1 loss and be in the championship game and 3 would have 2 losses (Boone, CovCath and Highlands). The question will be how they break this tie. If they use the KHSAA guidelines of breaking three way ties, Highlands will advance to the championship game on the strength of being the only team to defeat Dixie and thus using their 8 wins. The most wins that CovCath and Boone can come back with are 5 or 6 which would be the number of wins that Ryle has. Another possibility is a coin flip which would give each of the three an equal chance of advancing.

I would like to know who is playing who this week.

I know that Dixie plays Ryle and Boone plays Cooper. Highlands is done. What about CovCath?
