Question? How will Montgomery Co adjust to thier new coach?

Interested to see how Bach performs this year. I imagine he'll start for Augusta this year. Didn't play an immense amount of minutes last year, but much more than the other freshmen. He was kind of overshadowed by last year's seniors as well. Not that playing time will come easy - 7 or 8 seniors, 3 or 4 juniors, and a several sophomores. Hinson will certainly have his choice of starters and whol will be first off the bench!

It is also great to see Jake Handshoe getting some recognition. Hopefully he has a great senior year for the Indians.

I look for Handshoe to have a great Senior year. I took some heat from some last year when I expressed my opinion that Daniels and Rogers should have been listed in the top 10 players. Now that the season is over, we all can see I was right.:sssh:

Hard to replace everything they lost last year. They return minimal varsity experience. They will compete in this wide-open region though.

Agree, but what some don't realize is that Rogers and Fatkin would have started for most other 10th region teams last year. Give them a full year of experience this year and with their AAU experience, you could see the Cards playing in the finals and competing for another regional title.

Greatest thing about the 10th region this year is that this is one year that you can throw out the rankings. I would say that any team in the top 10 has a good chance to win region this year. Feb will bring us some exciting district tournaments and a very interesting regional tournament. I will say that with the regional being held at Montgomery, I like the Indians this year. Going to be a great year of basketball in the bluegrass.

Personally, I dislike the Region being held at Montgomery County. For teams like Brossart, Campbell County, Scott, and Pendleton County this is at least an hour and a half bus ride. Mason County seemed like a happy medium for all teams, not to mention the tradition of the Fieldhouse.

But if you make it to the State tourney....going to Lexington they won't mind the bus trip....

I totally agree with this statement because it's logical and makes common sense. Just trade Montgomery for Fleming and that makes geographic sense, then have it at Mason every year (it's in the middle of the region) so nobody drives too far, it has plenty of seating, parking, restaurants and hotel if you're so inclined. That's why it'll never happen, it makes too much sense.

Next year it's the 37th District's turn to host. Will they try to have it at the Bank of Kentucky Center again?

I believe so. Which means that the district that favors Montgomery County to host it will have to travel a ridiculous distance for the Regional Tournament. This region is too geographically spread out to have different districts choose each year. Mason County is pretty much at the center of the Region. Makes perfect sense to me.

Mason Co is the only place to have the tournament. It's the perfect place as far as location, places to eat and has the biggest draw of fans. I don't think the crowds this year at the tournament will be as big as the last few years. Pendleton, Clark and Mason bring the most people but that could be down this year. Montgomery's crowd will be up this year since they are expected to win.

Okay we have beat this horse to death on where the region should be held. Mason is apparantly the center of the universe but it is not centrally located for all teams but no location in this region is. Geographically it is spread out but until it is redrawn it is what it is and there isn't any reason that Mason and Pendleton fans can not make the drive to Montgomery just as Clark and Montgomery have driven to Mason for decades. You rarely have the NKY team fans complain about the drive to Montgomery. As to Mason having the most fans of course it is at their home and part of their heritage for the tourney to be there so they naturally will have the most fans. As for the long drive to BKOC for Montgomery and Clark fans it may be a few miles further but the roads are better so the time is about the same. Maysville has a nice selection of motels and restaurants but it is not that much better than Mt. Sterling and runs a distant second to Northern KY. But the bottom line is that there are at least two other locations in the current region that can host the tourney and it is fair to ALL fans to have it rotate.

 

Now back to the thread. Montgomery, Pendleton and maybe Harrison are the top three teams but Mason and Clark will be there at the end. But right now my pick has to be Montgomery with POY being Prewitt.
